There's a lot of buzz around the upcoming New York Auto Show->ke226, which will see vehicles such as the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger, the Acura TLX and the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe, but the Beijing Auto Show->ke2062, also scheduled this month, promises to be equally interesting.

Besides hosting debuts for concept cars like the Citroen DS 5LS R or Nissan's new, yet unnamed sedan, the Chinese event will also have an impressive lineup of BMW->ke178 vehicles on display. Among the new X4, the 2 Series Active Tourer and the i8, the Germans are set to unveil a new, special-edition version of the large 7 Series->ke323 sedan.

Developed specifically for the Chinese market, the new vehicle is dubbed Horse Edition. Now don't let the name full you, this luxurious land yacht doesn't come with horseshoes instead of badges or saddles instead of seats. BMW->ke178 christened it like that to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Horse.

Because it will be sold in China, the 7 Series Horse Edition will be based on the long-wheelbase version of the sedan->ke142, and will be equipped with a number of BMW Individual and M Sport features.

BMW 7 Series Horse Edition in detail

Being a 7 Series, the Horse Edition won't miss the luxury amenities offered on the sedan globally. Leather, wood and aluminum inserts will adorn the cabin, with exclusive Horse Edition motifs embroidered on the front seats' headrests.

The "high-class interior details" will be rounded off by an M Sport package, while the exterior will benefit from exclusive BMW Individual paint finishes.

The limited-edition sedan will be offered with standard four-wheel-drive (xDrive) and special badges to highlight its status.

BMW 7 Series

The current-generation 7 Series was introduced in 2008 and refreshed for the 2013 model year, when a new V-8 engine and an eight-speed transmission were added.

In the United States, the executive sedan is offered in no less than 10 flavors, with power ranging between 315 and 535 horsepower. Additionally, an Alpina B7 model is up for grabs just below the range-topping 760Li model.
