By now, it's clear that BMW->ke178 has a soft spot for the Japanese market. The Bavarian automaker has made a habit of launching limited-edition models in the Asian country, so we're not surprised at all that it's set to release another on. This time around the special model is called the X1->ke2474 Exclusive Sport. Yes, it's only been a week since BMW presented the Z4 sDrive GT Spirit, but who's really counting anymore?

The X1 Exclusive Sport is limited to just 160 units, so yes, it is certainly something special. More importantly, it has all sorts of bells and whistles to justify its label. But this SUV does come at a relatively steep price, as it will run our Japanese petrolhead friends a cool 5.190 million yen, which converts to $51,100 as of 7/15/2014. That's a whole lot of scratch for an X1.

BMW X1 Exclusive Sport in detail

You won't see any distinguishing characteristics on the exterior of this crossover->ke288, other than the choice of either Alpine White or Sapphire Black paint. Instead, BMW opted to focus on the inside, giving the interior a number of new special touches, including the satin-aluminum trimming on the dashboard and the installation of the iDrive system to go with an 8.8-inch display and Navigation Professional System. Meanwhile, the heated front seats were dressed up in beige Nevada leather and an M Sport steering wheel also makes an appearance.

The BMW X1 Exclusive Sport comes powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 184 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque while mated to a ZF-sourced, eight-speed automatic transmission. Customers will also be given the choice of having their special-edition X1 models fitted with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
