2015 BMW M2

  Review

Details about a possible M2 model surfaced at the end of May when BMW confirmed that the coupe and cabrio version of the 1-Series would be sold as the 2-Series. Now, thanks to the British magazine, AutoExpress, more details are available on this new sports car.

The new BMW M2 will be built on the company’s F21 platform that will also be used for the next 2-Series model. It will be an entry-level sports car featuring a front-mounted engine mated to all-new DCT semi-automatic transmission. As of right now, there are two possibilities in a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo delivering about 350 HP or an innovative tri-turbo engine that will be used for the first time in the upcoming X3M. One of the most innovative features of the upcoming M2 will be the intense use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastics first used in the M3 CRT and also announced for the upcoming BMW i8.

In an interview with the British magazine, the M Division’s new managing director, Dr Friedrich Nitschke said: "In the 1M Coupe->BMW i8, we have a starter car for the M Division, and we are continuing to develop this project. Such models must be sporty, and offer extraordinarily low fuel consumption. This is something we could achieve with the M2. I think the 1M Coupe proves there is room for an M2, a coupe."

Although BMW feels there is room for an M2 model, don’t expect it to arrive until late 2015. At that point, models like the Porsche Cayman and the Audi TT RS may need a little jump-start to deal with the added competition.

Updated 05/17/2012: Today we have a pretty cool rendering for the upcoming BMW M2. We hope you like it!

It is really oozing with angst! I love the new shape and design of its headlight, which is kind of refreshing for a BMW vehicle. I just only hope that this future vehicle is not on an electric motor.

This BMS M2 is really have the looks of angst, aggressive and an awesome car. M2 will really stand out when it comes in looks, no doubt for that.

It seems that this vehicle has a tough competitor. I can’t see the sportiness in the M package on this production.

Well, I have a doubt if this car is using the M package. The speed performance is not the impressive. And I thought BMW will be releasing the i-series.

Well, the future concept of this car is quite good for this series. The front design of the car is cool even if it looks like a Lamborghini. However, I’m looking forward to a more powerful output.

The M series of BMW are quite amazing for me. Talking about its competition, I think it can compete with other sports cars since it also has an amazing performance,  and they still have a lot of time if they want more upgrades on this one.

If this production is going to compete the Cayman and Audi TT, I bet it would be an awesome vehicle. However, I was expecting for a higher power output than its estimated figure performance. I guess we need to wait for this production and know if it will be as good as its predecessor.

As long as they are going to use a M package for this car, I think it would be an awesome production car. BTW, I think BMW would offer a new platform and styling for this future car but the power output is not that impressive.

Hmm, I hope that this does not end like the M1 rumors. All talk, but nothing really came out of it. It would really be bad if that becomes the way for this, since it really looks good.
