Next Ferrari Enzo will be inspired by the Bugatti Veyron
 
What do a Ferrari Enzo and a Bugatti Veyron have in common? Until recently, the only similarity was the fact that they were rivals, but new rumors suggest that the next generation Enzo will be inspired by shapes in the Veyron’s design. Guess Ferrari is feeling the heat a bit, huh? The new Enzo, set to be revealed in late 2012 will feature new-generation aerodynamic technology, including "active aerodynamics" that pump air out through the body to influence the way airflows over and under the skin. Rumors say that Ferrari will place a direct-injection twin-turbocharged V8 engine under the hood , but it is also believed that the next Enzo will use the same gasoline-hybrid technology found in the Vettura Laboratorio HY-KERS concept. "The world is a very different place to how it was when the Enzo was launched. It has moved on completely. And we are Ferrari – we do not take part to make up the numbers," said Ferrari officials in an interview with AutoCar. Ugliest Bugatti Veyron competition on Facebook
A while ago Bugatti has launched an online configurator for their Veyron line-up. Nothing unusual for a car-maker, right? But while other makers never had to deal with this kind of stuff, Bugatti has a serious problem with someone that really "loves" Veyron. If you go online on Facebook, you will find a very interesting competition. All you need is to open the online configurator and let your imagination go wild in creating the..... ugliest Veyron ever. Prize? None! Just the pleasure of making fun of one of the fastest car in the world. Now we know the Veyron is not a piece of art when it comes about the exterior design, but what some people did with that configurator is beyond any imagination. If you don’t believe take a look on Facebook, but let us warn you: your eyes will have a lot to suffer! The only one to blame in this situation is BUgatti for placing online all those hideous colors! The first Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sports has landed on our side of the pond with its first delivery to the States, specifically Symbolic Motors, San Diego. Not only has a U.S. citizen purchased the Bugatti, but they were also lucky enough to grab hold of the special World record edition. This special edition is only limited to the first five units of the SS and is priced at $2.7 million. We don’t know who the lucky owner is, but we’d sure want to be his friend! The Veryon Super Sport is powered by a 16-cylinder engine that deliver a total of 1200 HP. The World Record Edition will be able to hit a top speed of 268 mph, while the other 35 units will be limited to "only" 258 mph. Of course, with the price of gas going up every time someone sneezes, we highly doubt this Bugatti will be pushed to the limit very often. Then again, if the owner just spent $2.7 million on it, they probably aren’t worried too much about gas prices. While some automakers are focused on creating as many hybrid vehicles as possible, recent news has proven that supercars are in fact still a big hit on the market. We have already reported the fact that the Ferrari FF and the Lamborghini Aventador are sold out for 2011, but now we’re hearing more of the same kind of news from another automaker: Bugatti. Apparently, the most powerful Veyron that has ever been built, the 16.4 Super Sport, is also sold out. Damn, and we were saving to buy one! It seems that the first five Veyrons - dubbed the World Record Editions - were sold out before the car even launched and the remaining 25 of the 30 units Bugatti plans to build went just as fast! Apparently, everyone really does want a supercar that is capable of hitting a top speed of 267 mph, and we can’t blame them! Of course, not everyone has an extra $2.3 million sitting in their bank accounts or stowed under their mattresses, so a limited supply was probably a good idea. It should come as no surprise to anyone that if you’re a parking attendant that’s been tasked to park a supercar like the Bugatti Veyron, the utmost care should be enforced to ensure that the car is handled properly. Unfortunately, this particular attendant, while attempting what should be a simple parallel parking maneuver just outside of Harrod’s in London, didn’t have the one thing that’s important in this situation: any parking skills whatsoever. Not only does it take him an infinitesimally long time to parallel park, but he also manages to mount the curb while doing so. Other attempts proved to be as futile and to our shock and horror, he even scrapes the wheels of the multimillion dollar exotic. Valiant, but hopeless effort, we say. Just goes to show you that if you have a car of the Veyron variety, you might want to leave it in better hands. Or if you’re not too lazy, you might as well park the car by yourself. That way, if something happens to it, you won’t have to point any fingers at anyone. Bugatti comes to Qatar Motor Show for the first time
Bugatti is making headlines with their very first appearance at the Qatar Motor Show, but they did not display their latest Super Sport supercar for all to see. Instead, France’s legendary automotive marque opted to reveal the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, the world’s fastest, most powerful, and most exclusive open-top car. Like with the coupe version, the Grand Sport edition is powered by a 8 liter W16 engine that develops an impressive 1,001 hp at 6,000 rpm. This glorious engine will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in an incredible 2.7 seconds. Top speed goes up to 252 mph, but jumps down to 217mph with the top down. "When I had the chance to test-drive the new Grand Sport for the first time, I was filled with excitement,” said Pierre-Henri Raphanel, Bugatti’s official pilot, "as soon as I shifted into second gear, I immediately knew this was a completely different car. Even with the roof on, the driving experience was more intense – I could feel it in my fingertips and at the base of my spine. The car was more precise with less understeer, almost as if you had taken some filters away from the suspension and the steering." Bugatti made a fine choice for the maiden Qatar visit, but we hope next time they come packing a much newer model.
Bugatti prepares 270mph Veyron
A couple of weeks there was a nasty little rumor going around that Bugatti would soon be dropping their supercar variant in favor of a luxury sedan. While we were wrinkling our nose in distaste at such a horrible decision, another rumormill was spinning a different version of the news, and we like this one much better. How about we forget about the sedan for a minute and focus on a 270 mph Veyron? According to British magazine, AutoExpress, the Veyron SuperSport is not at all the best Bugatti can do and apparently Bugatti has no plans to break after the 300 Veyron units are sold. Instead, the company is going to bring in a new supercar that may take its inspiration from a 1999 design proposal for the original Veyron penned by Walter de’Silva, current head of Volkswagen Group design. This project was never put on display, but may be making a comeback in this next Veyron. One thing is for sure, the next model will feature blacked-out A-pillars, a ‘floating’ roof that curves around to form the side air intakes, and one-piece rear light assemblies. The future model will more than likely stick to the usual quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine and seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox, but the power coming out of these components will see some very big changes. With the tweaked engine setup, the future Veyron will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and will be capable of hitting a top speed of 270 mph. Sweet! Where do we sign up? Before anyone begins to even dream about owning any of these cars, we feel we have to give fair warning that purchasing any one of them will probably cost a few arms and legs. Of course, for anyone whose bank account has never felt the dryness that most of ours have, then listen up. Forbes - yeah, we all know them - has released a Top 10 list of the World’s Most Expensive Cars. Think forking over $100,000 on a car is already a financial burden? Well, think again. Not only are these cars fast and powerful, but they command a pretty steep price tag, which is only affordable to those people that have as much money as we have lottery tickets. Something of note for this list is that there are two cars that have yet to be unveiled, let alone given a price tag. Their respective prices are then assumptions by Forbes and may change the list once the actual prices have been revealed. Another thing that we noticed is the conspicuous absence of the Aston Martin One-77, which, at $1.77 million, is easily one of the most expensive cars in the world. Despite the economic crisis, 2010 has been a very active year for the automotive industry. And while most of the world expected to see more hybrids or small city cars, automakers wanted to prove once again that supercars were still the leaders of the automotive world. We’ve seen lots of world debuts this year, and while every single one of them is more than impressive, there were only three that topped our list for supercar of the year. Getting to the final three was no easy task, but we managed to find our way here, where the final three went head to head for the top podium. Our nominees need no explanation: the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Bugatti Veyron Supersport, and the Koenigsegg Agera. All of them are as fast as the wind, have an impressive exterior design, and an even more impressive interior, and all of them made headlines during this past year. Bugatti has launched a configurator for their insanely awesome Veyron model, both coupe and Grand Sport versions. So, if wasting away in front of your computer is your idea of a relaxing weekend then by all means, at least do so while customizing your very own, albeit fictional, Bugatti Veyron. With this configurator, you can choose the car’s exterior and interior color, as well as every detail for both: mirrors caps, wheels, air intakes, roof rail, seats, center console, and more.
