2012 Buick LaCrosse GL Concept
The 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show will be host to the Buick LaCrosse GL Concept - a vehicle that takes a step forward in defining automotive luxury. The GL Concept combines a palette of cabernet red, dark cocoa brown, and caramel chocochino inspired by the burnished metal of antique jewelry, ombré patina on vintage guitars, and flocked lining of keepsake boxes. The exterior is painted in a cabernet red and is combined with brushed and tinted chrome accents on the grille, door handles, and deck lid, as well as around the windows, taillights, and headlights. A new set of satin-finish 20-inch rims completes the overall look. Taking a step into the car’s interior will give you the impression of entering a nicely decorated room. It combines dark cocoa brown and caramel chocochino leather on the seats, doors, and instrument panel surfaces with a rich chocochino suede headliner and wood trim on the steering wheel and dash. "The LaCrosse GL concept expresses Buick’s distinctly human kind of luxury – one that is as warmly inviting as it is elegant and refined," said David Lyon, executive director of design. "The design cues that already distinguish the production LaCrosse – such as the premium leather-upholstered seats, ice blue ambient lighting and soft touch surfaces – are amplified in the GL and serve as inspiration for future Buick models." 2011 Buick Envision Concept
General Motors has unveiled the Envision at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show. While the concept itself won’t be put into production, the company says it "represents a convergence of future ideas and technology for Buick in the market." The Envision Concept was developed by Shanghai GM and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), and according to GM, integrates global design with local aesthetics for the China market, adhering to Buick’s "dynamic, fluid, quiet and comfortable" design essence. The Envision has inherited Buick design DNA and taken the Buick global design language to a new height. It makes a significant statement for Buick styling and technology, and will influence upcoming models from the brand," said Ed Welburn, GM Vice President of Global Design. And, in trend with all the latest concept cars, the Envision incorporates GM’s world-leading PHEV plug-in hybrid system. At the Chicago Auto Show that is scheduled to start tomorrow, Buick will bring the 2012 Regal eAssist, a new model added to the current Regal line-up that already includes the 2.4L and 2.0L Turbo models, and the upcoming Regal GS. The new model will go on sale this fall. The same technology has been recently unveiled in the 2012 Buick LaCrosse. "Buick’s eAssist technology means customers don’t have to trade a premium driving experience for efficiency," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing. "We believe Regal and LaCrosse with eAssist provide more logical and affordable choices, compared to other hybrid midsize and full-size luxury sedans. It’s really an extension of the conventional internal combustion engine, not a replacement for it." The new eAssist technology combines a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a small electric motor powered by a 115-volt lithium-ion battery. The result is an improvement of 20% in fuel economy. We don’t think a day goes by when we don’t hear about a super car crashing here or a stupid driver carelessly swerving there, but it is a rare opportunity when a stunt actually goes as planned. Maybe it’s because drivers just don’t have the skills needed to succeed at the task at hand or maybe cars just aren’t made like they used to be. Either way, we’re more likely to see the disastrous end of a gnarly machine then see it go for the gold in any of the tricks set before it. This is why we are ecstatic to present this 30-year-old piece of junk - aka a Buick LeSabre - that has enough gusto to jump as high as four feet at 100mph gaining a huge amount of respect from us, not for the naive driver at the wheel, but for his lucky ride that is dead set on working overtime. And for the crash hungry that can’t seem to get enough of compressed sheet metal, shimmy on down past the jump to check out a brand new Camaro as it demonstrates how not to make the jump. 2011 Chicago Auto Show Preview

Full story 2012 Buick LaCrosse
Take a pick among General Motors’ line-up of auto brands when it comes to overall popularity and chances are you’d take a while before picking Buick among them. It’s not the most popular brand by any stretch of the imagination, but thanks to a rejuvenation, Buick is looking like it’s going to be a major player in the mid-size luxury sedan with the 2012 Buick LaCrosse. Taking the reins from the previous LaCrosse model, the 2012 model looks to take the company to the next level with an all new eAssist system that Buick is proclaiming to improve fuel economy by 25 percent. What’s most impressive about the new LaCrosse is that despite the state-of-the-art system that’s been given to the vehicle, Buick is not giving it an added impetus – separate cost from the vehicle – but rather, is putting the eAssist system as a standard feature in all 2012 models of the LaCrosse. That, in itself, says a lot about Buick and it’s latest mid-size luxury sedan. Continued after the jump. Full story A New Name For The Chevrolet Aveo
It’s not often we get things right when we make jokes, but we did say that we thought Chevrolet should change the name of the new Aveo. After all, the last one really was terrible. We completely agree with this rumor, as separating this new model with the last one can only help sales. Take the new Cruze for instance. If it had been called the redesigned Cobalt, would it have gotten the attention it’s currently getting? The new Aveo will be built at GM’s Orion plant, which it recently renovated. Along with the new Aveo, Buick’s small premium car, the Verano, will be built there as well. It will be the first small car built by the company in over 20 years and will be based off of the Cruze. In total, these two new vehicles could help save up to 1,500 jobs which could be extremely helpful in the current economy. Hit the jump to see the press release. 2012 Buick Verano teased
Teaser images in the year 2010 are turning into what brightly colored, mismatched baggy clothes were in the 90’s; widespread and tacky. Jumping on this latest strip tease trend is General Motors with their first teaser image of the 2012 Buick Verano. The teaser reveals a big part of the car’s bonnet as well as a good portion of the front bumper. Are we crazy impressed? Of course not. The future Verano is a new compact model that aims to customers looking for a car smaller than the Buick Regal and will be built at the at the Orion Assembly Center alongside Chevrolet’s new small car. The choice of venue is simple based on the fact that GM is dropping a sizable amount of cash into retooling the plant. The total cost of investment is approximately $600 million, including both the new small car and the Verano. "Verano will bring premium styling, performance and content to Buick buyers wanting a smaller car than Regal," said Reuss. "The investment in Orion Assembly also extends GM’s local small car footprint, again increasing the number of U.S.-made small vehicles available in showrooms." Improvements for the Orion Assembly Center are expected to be finished by summer 2011. Press release after the jump. Full story | featured reviews:
