Cadillac CTS

The Cadillac CTS is a mid-size produce by General Motors since 2002. So far, it has seen two generations with a third in the works for 2013.

The current model is offered in sedan, coupe, and sport-wagon variants with a choice of three different engines. The first is a 3.0L V6 developing 260hp and 223 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a 3.6L V6 producing 304hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, while the top of the line 6.2L Supercharged V8 engine delivers 556hp and 551 lb-ft of torque. These engines are mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Video: Hennessey Performance modifies Cadillac CTS-V; spikes up its numbers across the board

Hennessey Performance never seems to run out of cars that it modifies to become faster and even more powerful than its standard type. For this occasion, HP decided to feast on a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, a car that is already powered by a Corvette ZR1 derivative 6-2-liter V8 engine, and try to make it even more powerful than it already is.

The result, as you can expect, is staggering. In tuning the CTS-V, Hennessey decided to add a few instruments to the coupe, including a cold air induction system, a smaller supercharger pulley, ling tube headers, a three-inch exhaust system, an improved intercooler, and a new engine management system, among others.

After finishing up on their new work of art, the completely souped-up CTS-V now throttles with up to 700 horsepower with 70 lb-ft of torque, giving it a more than impressive top speed of 211 mph and a 0-60mph time of 3.3 seconds.

Check out the video of the CTS-V doing some test work and see for yourself how Hennessey Performance was able to turn an already powerful coupe into something that can fluster even the most expensive of supercars.

Video: New 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe commercial hints on car to withstand calamities

The way Cadillac is positioning the 2011 CTS-V Coupe in its new commercial, you figure that this may be one of those cars that have the capacity to withstand any form of natural disaster Mother Nature throws its way.

Of course, realistically speaking, there aren’t a lot of things that can look nature’s wrath in the eye and live to tell about it. But with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that packs 556 hp and 551ft’lbs of torque, the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is a good car to have when you’re running away from a natural disaster.

You may not be familiar with General Motors Vice-President of Design for North America Bryan Nesbitt, but you will definitely recognize his work. Namely the PT Cruiser from his time with Daimler Chrysler and the equally retro Chevrolet HHR. Aside from throwbacks to early people movers, Nesbitt also had a say in the design of the open air sport compact speedsters, the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky before their untimely demise. However these days the young designer has moved on to more grown up things, like managing the development of Cadillac’s latest BMW 3 Series competitor, the CTS Coupe.

The challenge that GM’s design team set before them was to integrate the art and science of engineering a great rear wheel drive chassis to create a very dynamic and expressive luxury sport coupe complete with styling cues like a low slung roofline, flared arches and hidden door handles to create an extremely sporty design. The Cadillac CTS Coupe is powered by a direct injected 3.6 Liter V6 gas burning engine and is mated to a six speed manual transmission standard with a Driver Shift Control automatic as an option, the combination is good for a total of 304 HP and looks that just won’t quit.

Cadillac CTS-V by GeigerCars

If you aren’t familiar with the German auto motive importers then there are only two things that you need to know. They really like anything powered by an American made V8, and they aren’t afraid to turn up the boost in order to make them go faster. Fresh off of Bob Lutz’s CTS-V Challenge, the latest addition to Geiger’s catalog is the pride and joy of Cadillac’s V Series lineup, a hot rod four door luxury sedan. In order to hang with tuned Audi RS6s and Mercedes E63 AMGs Geiger has upgraded the ZR-1 inspired supercharged 6.2 Liter LS motor from producing 556 HP and 551 lb-ft of torque to be on par with the Corvette super car, making 619 HP and 627 lb-ft of twist. The Cadillac CTS-V’s top speed has also been raised to 205 MPH to ensure that it is Autobahn ready.

Cadillac CTS-V becomes the Batmobile

Add this to our growing list of pseudo Batmobiles patrolling the streets of the world these days.

A few days after the new 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe was unveiled at the LA Auto Show, one of its predecessors – the CTS-V - was spotted miles away in Pasadena sporting the Caped Crusader’s insignia on the car’s hood, trunk, and side-view mirror.

We didn’t know that Batman has a taste for a Cadillac CTS-V, but it sure would be fun if he showed up one night in the streets of Gotham – or in this case, Pasadena – running down criminals on this bad boy.

Well Cadillac made our dreams come true when they confirmed the future CTS-V Coupe and things are looking up even more because they have just announced when we will see the 556 HP M3 obliterator. Cadillac CTS-V dominates Cadillac CTS-V Challenge; Lutz finishes seventh overall

As expected, the Cadillac CTS-V dominated the challenge that bears its own name after seven of the top 12 fastest laps recorded came from the CTS-V.

Guess that means GM boss Bob Lutz will have to eat crow at another day.

The CTS-V’s dominance was apparent from start to finish. Six of the top seven cars were CTS-Vs, with the notable exception being a BMW M3 Sedan owned by one Michael Cooper, which placed fourth in the overall standings. Bagging the top spot was former GM Performance Division Executive, John Henricy after posting a lap time of 2m and 46.56s.

As for Bob Lutz, his lap time earned him a seventh place finish with a fastest lap time of 2m and 56.231 seconds, although it’s worth mentioning that out of all the CTVs that finished in the top 12, his finished second to last, beating the CTS-V driven by Chris Fairman (10th overall) with a fastest lap time of 3m 14.292s

Video: Cadillac CTS-V Challenge

Well Bob Lutz laid down his V-Series Challenge and Cadillac seems to have retained their title of the world’s fastest sport sedan, with a little help from their friends of course. Owners of factory tuned fast four doors were invited to the Monticello Motor Club just outside of New York City and take on the CTS-V in a fast lap competition against the General Motors Vice Chairman, Bob Lutz, as well as a few seasoned racers and friends of GM like Brian Redman, Aaron Link and John Heinricy. Throwing a wrench into Cadillac’s plans was Skip Barber graduate Michael Cooper and his four door BMW M3, although the New York native is no professional, he did manage to finish right behind GM’s trio of road course ringers. Either way Cadillac did prove that the CTS-V can go fast, even with Bob Lutz behind the wheel, and everyone in attendance had more than they can seem to remember. In a time where consumers are more concerned with efficiency than outright lap times, it is nice to see that there are still automaker’s that are giving high performance driving enthusiasts exactly what they are asking for. Even more importantly, it shows that they still know how to have fun.

Cadillac CTS-V at the 2009 South Florida International Auto Show

Resting in the shadows of the award winning Converj concept car, Cadillac was showing off a piece of their production car finest, another award winner, the Cadillac CTS-V. The dark grey super sedan took Top Speed’s car of the year award last year thanks to its practical four door layout and ability to take up to five from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.9 seconds because of the 556 HP 6.2 Liter supercharged V8 sitting under the power bulge in the hood. The mid size sport sedan will be defending the honor of General Motors later on this week at New York state’s Monticello Motor Club as GM’s knight in shining armor because of King Lutz’s challenge.
