The Cadillac STS has not changed much since its birth in 2005. The only exciting thing about it was the supercharged STS-V which has been eliminated from the lineup. However, those looking for an alternative to European models can feel at home with the STS.
The Cadillac STS is powered by either a 3.6L V6 engine producing 302hp and 272 lb-ft of torque or a 4.6L V8 delivering 320hp and 315 lb-ft of torque. These engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and are available in all-wheel drive.
General Motors has announced that the future for Cadillac involves a vehicle smaller than the CTS sedan and one large sedan, meaning GM will drop the DTS or STS.
The DTS, a successor to the DeVille, is built in the Detroit-Hamtramck, Mich., plant on the front-drive G architecture. The STS is built in the Lansing, Mich., Grand River Assembly plant on the rear-drive Sigma architecture.

For 2006, the STS receives several enhancements. All-wheel drive becomes available on the V-6 models. Bose 5.1 Studio Surround Sound with Navigation is now standard on the V-8 1SE package. In addition, new exterior colors are: Stealth Grey, Radiant Bronze, Blackberry and Infrared.
