The Cadillac SRX->ke1735 was unveiled at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and is going on sale starting at $33,330 for the base 3.0 Liter V6 powered front wheel drive version and climbs all the way up to $51,360 for the 2.8 Liter six cylinder Turbo Premium version.  As the Cadillac->ke18 of crossovers enters its second generation, the completely redesigned SRX delivers a dynamic alternative in terms of visual appeal and driving character to ordinary CUVs with its downsized fuel efficient gas burning engines.  The SRX comes standard with a front wheel drive layout and is available with all wheel drive as an option.  It is built atop a version of General Motors’ Theta platform that is also used for the Chevrolet Equinox and the Epsilon II platform that is also used for the European Opel Insignia.

UPDATE 04/12/2011: After being dramatically redesigned back in 2010, the Cadillac SRX has once again been put under the magnifying glass, but this time the changes that were made to the lineup were minimal. All SRX fans out there will have much to rejoice over as the 2012 Cadillac will get a more powerful version added to its line-up: a 3.6 liter direct-injected V-6 engine that will deliver a total of 300 HP and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.

UPDATE 07/26/11: Cadillac has released some new information about the 2012 SRX, including adjustments to the performance figures on the SUV, as well as new interior features that will be included in the 2012 model. Head on after the jump to find out what's in store for us with the 2012 SRX.

UPDATE 04/10/12: Cadillac has unveiled the 2013 SRX at the New York Auto Show a series of exterior and interior updates, but the most important one is the addition of the company’s latest CUE - a in-vehicle user experience that incorporates touch-screen controls similar to the most popular mobile devices.

Exterior

The 2010 model retains the majority of the design features from the concept, and although the original was designed with aerodynamics in mind due to the fact that it was an electric fuel cell vehicle, this only translates into increased fuel economy for the gas burning production vehicle. The interior of the all new SRX is unmistakably Cadillac, finished with premium materials and completed in style just like the CTS luxury sport sedan.

The 2010 SRX rides on a wide track and can tow up to 3,500 pounds. It seats up to five people, with generous occupant and cargo room. Up front, a multi-piece shield grille and vertical headlamps with light pipe technology and available adaptive forward lighting can be seen, as well as a chrome front fender vent that incorporates a side marker lamp. The design lines swoop back towards the rear and then taper off to give the SRX a sporty profile. An integrated spoiler can also be found on rearward edge of the roof and serves to extend the design line and improve aerodynamics. To finish off the exterior look eighteen-inch wheels come as standard and 20-inch wheels come as an option.

2013 Cadillac SRX

The 2013 Cadillac SRX has received a new design for the front upper and lower grilles, new front fender vents that incorporate LED light pipes. The SUV has also received three new exterior colors: Evolution Green Metallic, Glacier Blue Metallic and Silver Coast Metallic plus a new range of 20-inch wheel designs, including new chrome and polished aluminum wheels for the Performance and Premium Collections.

Interior

Inside the SRX, the customer will be greeted with an integrated center stack that houses controls for climate and audio systems. There is also navigation system that rises from the center of the instrument panel. The navigation system comes with three-dimensional imaging and is backed by other technological accessories such as adaptive forward lighting that swivels the headlamps in synch with vehicle steering, a power liftgate with adjustable height setting, an integrated hard disc drive for audio storage, and a dual-screen system for rear entertainment. Bluetooth compatibility comes standard and, if customers do not opt for the navigation system, then OnStar’s turn-by-turn navigation service also comes standard.

For the 2012 model of the SRX, Cadillac has prepared some content enhancements, including an improved voice recognition for phone activation, navigation, and radio station changes, a heated steering wheel on the Luxury, Performance, and Premium Collections, and door lock switches on the driver and passenger door panels. There will also be new cruise control buttons on the wheel, a new memory seat, and backlighting for map lights in the overhead console.

2013 Cadillac SRX

For the 2013 model year, the SRX has received a new shift knob design, new steering wheel design and a new instrument cluster with new driver information center for CUE integration.

The SRX's new CUE system pairs entertainment and information data from up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, USBs, SD cards and MP3 players with a vehicle infotainment system that reduces complexity through customized information, voice commands and fewer buttons and larger icons.

Engine

The 2010 Cadillac SRX is powered by a choice of two six cylinder power plants, which were both new to the luxury arm of GM at that time. The standard offering is a 3.0 Liter unit that produces 260 HP and the optional 2.8 Liter turbocharged mill makes a maximum output of 300 HP and thanks to direct gasoline injection reduces emissions by about a quarter. The engines are mated to a Hydra-Matic 6T70 six speed automatic transmission that helps saving fuel by lowering the engine’s RPM when cruising at speed and is good for as much as 25 MPG on the highway.

Suspension and Transmission

Facilitating traction control for the SRX is the rear eLSD. This system can transfer up to 100 percent of torque to the wheel in icy or wet conditions and gives the driver enhanced control when cornering hard or completing a high-speed maneuver. The suspension includes a real-time damping system in conjunction with AWD that adjusts shock damping rates in response to road conditions for a smooth ride quality.
