2013 Cadillac ATS

After being rumored for quite some time, the new Cadillac ATS compact sedan has officially been unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The car was built to challenge some of the world’s best premium cars like the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes C-Class. It will go on sale in Summer 2012.

The new 2013 Cadillac ATS will be distinguished by its active shutter grille, LED-infused headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome trim, vertical taillights, and integrated trunk spoiler. It is also the first Cadillac model to carry the CUE infotainment system - an eight-inch LCD multi-touch sensitive screen that is integrated into the top of the center instrument panel.

Customers will have the possibility to choose between three engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 200 HP, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 270 HP, and a 3.6-liter V6 with 318 HP. All three engines can be combined with either a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission, as well as an optional all-wheel drive system.

"Designed with quick, nimble and fun-to-drive dynamics, ATS expands Cadillac’s portfolio into a crucial global segment," said Don Butler, vice president of marketing for Cadillac. "For a new group of luxury consumers, this is a car that will fit their lifestyle and challenge the segment’s status quo."

Cadillac ATS

The 2013 ATS takes Cadillac’s Art & Science design language and reinterprets it for proportions relative to the vehicle’s compact design. The compact model sits at 182.8 inches/4643mm long, 55.9 inches/1421 mm tall, and 71.1 inches/1805 mm wide. Its wheelbase measures 109.3 inches/2775 mm, with a 59.5 inches/1512 mm track in the front and a 60.9 inches/1548 mm track in the rear. The ATS was built using a new rear-wheel drive platform with a total weight of only 3400 lbs and a 51/49 weight distribution. Cadillac managed to keep the weight as low as possible by using an aluminum hood, magnesium engine mount brackets, and lightweight, natural-fiber door trim panels.

As for the standout features of the car, the Cadillac ATS now boasts of an active shutter grille that closes at certain highway speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance fuel economy. Added to the mix are LED-infused headlights, a chrome trim, vertical taillights, an integrated trunk spoiler, and 17-18" painted, polished, or machined-face alloy wheels.

The elegance and simplicity of the exterior flows inside of the vehicle towards a driver-focused interior with integrated technology and crafted materials like real wood, plated metal plating, and carbon fiber trim. Of course, these features are second to the all-new Cadillac CUE (Cadillac User Experience) infotainment system that includes an eight-inch LCD multi-touch sensitive screen, seamlessly integrated into the top of the center instrument panel and a motorized fully capacitive faceplate at the bottom concealing a 1.8L storage area. The ATS marks the first Cadillac to feature the CUE system.

Cadillac ATS

Cadillac built the ATS as a cheaper alternative to models like the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes C-Class .

The new BMW 3-Series is offered with a choice of four engines - two petrol and two diesel - with powered ranging from 184 to 306 HP. The Mercedes Mercedes C-Class is offered in a choice of 11 different models, both petrol and diesel, with the most powerful delivering 306 HP. These figures provide the ATS ATS with the advantage of being a bit more powerful than both challengers, with what we can easily assume will be a cheaper price tag.

Cadillac ATS
  • Great look
  • First Cadillac with the CUE system
  • More powerful than more expensive competitors
  • Cadillac doesn’t hold the appeal BMW and Mercedes do.

Another car to have on our garage: 2013 Cadillac ATS. This one looks fabulous on its platform. Good thing is that this has a lot of features to offer to those luxury car lovers.

what a nice car for me. i love color black and also the the style checkcard and the head light i like the tires the inside body and the engine and machine good engine and right machine for me. the car is lowered type. the car is hot when you see it in the reality .

I love the glossy look of Cadillac; a more impressive one. I think it’s very reliable on the road and practical to use for transportation. The style of this car inside is so great.

Aside from its elegant exterior looks, you will be impressed on this Cardillac interior features. Much with massive technology and wide space. But when competition is around, this car can’t beat a Mercedes, much more a BMW.

I am a fan of BMW, but this time I would say that they turned me off. This car looks sloppy to me and though it is fuel efficient, I am not going to choose a Hybrid car. Anyway, I still admire its technology and some of its looks.

Me too, I love the glossy look of this Cardillac. And I am looking forward to see this on the road in the summer of 2012. Nice engine, if i must say.

Yeah! It really looks so simple for 2012 but it’s great as well that it is still very reliable on the road and practical to use for everyday transportation. Moreover, I have to agree that it will look more impressive on a glossy paint.

Maybe it will be looks more impressive and stunning if it was on a glossy paint. Anyway, just like them, I also find it an ordinary Cadillac vehicle and seem that it doesn’t any special feature to offer.

Well, it really looks good, but I can’t give any further comment about this one, and I would wait for the official outlook of it even its other detail. Anyway, I hope that it has also an impressive engine.

It still looks like the other Cadillac vehicle, but I’m as yet impressed on this. However, I didn’t find it a luxury sedan on its exterior looks. Well, I hope that they would prove that it is truly a bliss vehicle.

I can say that I either, still prefer the old and original Cadillac but anyway, as for this new compact opulence sedan of them, it is maybe looking so luxurious because of its sleek body paint but it also so simple and ordinary either.

Hey a Nissan with a Cadillac badge! There is no Cadillac DNA, that is why they are trying slice the gene and be more like the Europeans just like Lexus no matter how much bs the marketing dept. tries to promote. In the U.S. its another alternative to Buick, not a true world contender! The new iteration might bring some sales elsewhere if the world like to have something other than the usual players like Volvo presents itself as an alternative.

I don’t know how it became a luxury sedan, but I must say that I love the aggressive and classy exterior of it. Anyway, I think it is better if it is on a black body paint rather on that one.

The headlight design of this Cadillac is really looked like with Nissan vehicle. However, I’m still impressed with it, especially with its cool and a bit of aggressive appearance that caused by its mileage on its front bumper.

Sadly, to say, I didn’t find this one as a luxury sedan. However, I’m impressed with the simplicity of this one, for it is already so striking on that. I just hope that it also had an impressive engine specs.

Thought lots of rumored happened about Cadillac ATS compact luxury sedan, this vehicle just proved its capability even on its first sketch showed. As what I saw in the teaser it assuredly have greater concept prior both to its engine and design.

Though I still prepared the old Cadillac ATS Compact, I’m still impressed with this new one even if it only had a simple platform and design, and I think they should have enhanced either the engine of this.

I like the old concept of cadillac But I don’t like the old engine of cadillac. I’ll wait for redesigning of this car.

Hopefully Cadillac can revive their old school designs and make a fusion of old school car with a state of the figure performance.

Very simple design of a car and I can’t see the interior part of this car. BTW, The performance of this car is good and the engine is so smooth.
