When the Cadillac CTS dropped onto the market, it was available in a variety of versions, including a sedan , a coupe and a station wagon . Now, the same recipe for success is being applied to the new ATS . Cadillac will first put out a sedan and a coupe version, but a station wagon version and a convertible are also said to be in the mix. Why? Well, Americans need cheaper alternatives to German coupes and Cadillac is ready to deliver just about anything we’re looking for in order to pick up sales.

They have the platform to build on and will more than likely make sure they get their money’s worth on it.

At the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Cadillac finally revealed the all-new 2015 ATS Coupe, and borrowed a host of features from the sedan version, except for the new body panels, the equally new Cadillac badge and the sedan’s two rear doors

The ATS Coupe is also built on the same rear-wheel-drive Alpha platform and is offered with nearly the same engine lineup as the sedan: a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder with 270 horsepower, and a 3.6-liter, V-6 with 321 horsepower. The engines are combined with either a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission. There will also be an option for an all-wheel-drive system.

BMW and Audi better start prepping themselves for some competition.

Update 5/15/14: Cadillac has announced a starting price of $38,990, including the $995 delivery fee for the 2015 ATS Coupe.

We already know all the details in and around the 2015 ATS Coupe , Cadillac ’s main weapon against the new-generation BMW 4 Series , but we have yet to find out too much about the high-performance ATS-V version, which is supposed to give the M4 fits. And that’s because Caddy has been keeping everything under wraps, including the actual design of the car, leaving room for wild speculation. What we do know for a fact is that the brawny coupe will arrive in dealerships for the 2015 model year.

What’s more, a recent video coming from TFL Car suggests the production version is nearly ready to hit the assembly line. The heavily camouflaged ATS-V Coupe was spotted stretching its legs on a mountain road and it is widely known that high-altitude testing typically means the vehicle is very close to its production setup.

Although the camouflage manages to hide nearly every single detail on the car, the twin exhaust pipes are enough proof that there’s an actual ATS-V Coupe under the fake skin. The vehicle also appears to be very fast when the driver drops the hammer, with the TFL team having a hard time keeping up with it at the end of the video.

Speaking of velocity, there’s no word as to what might be motivating the new ATS-V Coupe, but our money is on GM ’s twin-turbo, 3.6-liter, V-6 engine, which should generate between 450 and 500 horsepower. The beefed-up two-door will borrow most of its cues from the 2015 ATS Coupe, but look out for a more aggressive pair of bumpers, wider fenders, a lowered ride height and performance tires.

A high-performance version of the ELR has been in the rumormill ever since Cadillac introduced the plug-in hybrid , but the Detroit-based manufacturer has been rather silent on the matter. The vehicle was engulfed in even more obscurity earlier this year, when GM vice president Mark Reuss said Cadillac is looking at expanding the coupe ’s "tuning envelope" without revealing any actual details.

We have no idea what that means, but we might find out by the end of the year because the manufacturer started testing an ELR that appears to be sportier than the standard version launched for the 2014 model year. The news comes via Autoblog, who revealed that a coupe fitted with larger brakes and four-piston Brembo calipers borrowed from the Buick Regal GS just hit the streets.

Details are scarce right now, but an updated brake package can only mean one thing: Cadillac is planting more horsepower under the ELR’s hood. Add the fact that it wears a new grille hidden under a camouflaged nose and a new set of wheels, and it’s evident that a brawnier ELR is starting to take shape.

What’s more, the said coupe has been spotted in the company of a Tesla Model S , the all-electric sedan that’s been smoking Dodge Vipers at the drag strip .

Still, there’s no confirmation that Cadillac is indeed prepping an ELR-V, but we’re definitely looking forward to seeing an ELR with more than 207 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque at its disposal.

Although the Cadillac CTS Sedan arrived with a brand new face at the 2013 New York International Auto Show , its performance-oriented cousins have yet to receive the updated look.

The entire CTS-V lineup, consisting of sedan , coupe and wagon models, charged into 2014 without major modifications, with Cadillac hoping to lure customers from BMW or Audi with more horsepower for less bucks.

That won’t change much for the first half of the 2015 model year, at least not as far as the CTS-V is concerned, as the manufacturer opted to end the current-generation model with a special edition two-door that will be available in the second half of 2014.

Only 500 of these cars will be built and sold with a number of exclusive features to complement the host of luxury amenities already offered with the CTS-V Coupe. The special edition model will provide passage between the current-generation version and the brand-new coupe that’s scheduled to break cover next year.

With 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque at its disposal, the brand-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade leads the full-size luxury SUV segment in terms of power. But if that’s not enough for you, then you’ll be happy to learn that the folks over at Hennessey Performance have taken the V-8’s output even further.

Using its new HPE550 package, the Texas-based specialist upgraded the 6.2-liter mill to deliver 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque, which translates into 32 percent and 18 percent increases respectively. As with most Hennessey tweaks, the package also includes an air-to-water intercooler system and engine management recalibration.

In a conversation with John Hennessey, the company expects one-second faster 0-to-60 and quarter-mile times, but they won’t have the official numbers until testing is completed in late-May 2014. By our estimates, this would put it at around five seconds flat. We will bring you the official numbers as soon as they become available. Top speed, however, will likely not be affected by the HPE550 kit, due to the electronic limiter on the Escalade.

The SUV’s exterior, however, remains unchanged, save for a set of lightweight Hennessey H10 forged, monoblock wheels that can be ordered separately for a hefty $6,950. The 20-inch rollers are supposed to allow more power to reach the pavement, thanks to their reduced rotating mass, which could mean a slight acceleration improvement.

Cadillac’s aggressive promotion of its brand doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, and just for the spring of 2014, it’s got a special model for those interested in a unique 2015 ATS Coupe . The model is called the Crimson Sport Special Edition, and while it does come with a host of new upgrades, including Caddy’s Track Package, the indelible characteristic of this special edition ATS is its Crimson Red Metallic exterior paint.

Unique as the paint is, the color isn’t the only thing special about the exterior of the vehicle. A ground effects package was also installed, featuring a color-matched front splitter, rocker moldings and rear diffuser, and an aero deck-lid spoiler. Finally, a set of exclusive 18-inch Manoogian Dark Silver Premium Painted wheels were added to the mix, giving the ATS Crimson Sport a true special-edition look to it.

Moving inside, four different interior environments — Morello Red with Jet Black accents, Caramel with Jet Black accents, Jet Black with Jet Black accents or Light Platinum with Jet Black accents — are offered to go with new heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel and shift lever, both of which are made from microfiber suede.

The ATS Crimson Sport Special Edition is offered with either the 272-horsepower ATS 2.0T Performance Collection with the automatic transmission or the 321-horsepower 3.6L Premium Collection with rear- or all-wheel drive. The model are set to hit dealerships at the end of March with a retail price of $46,010 for the 2.0T and $51,010 for the 3.6L.

The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is a road-thumping powerhouse that is probably unfairly judged because its a wagon. Despite its old-school looks that are in need of more than just an update, the vehicle is still pretty appealing. Similar to the coupe and sedan versions, the CTS-V Wagon is the kind of vehicle that enthusiasts are likely to fall in line for.

The big issue for the CTS-V Wagon are its outdated aesthetics, but these may be addressed sooner than later now that the all-new CTS Sedan has officially broken cover.

But even with the new-look CTS-V Wagon still at least a year away from arriving, you’ll still get what you’ll pay for with current generation look. It’s significantly less expensive than it’s rivals and more importantly, its ridiculous 500-horsepower performance puts it right in line with some of the top models in its class.

It’s another year of waiting for the Cadillac CTS-V Sedan before it gets its new looks, so for now, the high-performance luxury sedan is content selling its performance capabilities packaged with last-generation’s styling That, essentially, is the conundrum for the CTS-V Sedan. Talks of a new look gained some steam with the introduction of the next-generation CTS Sedan , and it’s likely that the CTS-V Sedan will follow suit next year, and inherit the new CTS styling.

For now, though, this is what customers are going to get, and while it may be a smarter move to just sit and wait for the new CTS-V, it’s not like this model has completely lost all its appeal.

It still performs like a muscle car disguised in a luxury sedan’s body, and its aesthetics still look pretty good, despite getting up there in age.

The 2014 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe may be long in the tooth, but it still has some surprisingly springy legs, which a testament to how far Cadillac has come in turning this high-powered CTS Coupe into a real luxury sports coupe.

Unfortunately, the CTS-V Coupe didn’t get the same love from Cadillac as far as looks are concerned. That honor was bestowed to the all-new CTS Sedan , and judging by how well-received the CTS Sedan was when it made its debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, the CTS-V should have reason for optimism when it gets its due turn in the new-generation design.

For now, though, the 2014 CTS-V Coupe trudges on with relatively minor updates since it made its debut in 2008. It’s a risky move for Cadillac, especially when a lot of customers can just opt to sit back and wait for the new-look CTS-V Coupe to arrive.

Cadillac ATS Coupe

Cadillac’s been making waves this week for all the right reasons. Days after it debuted the all-new ATS Coupe , the U.S. manufacturer confirmed that the car’s performance-oriented trim, the aptly named ATS-V , will have performance numbers that would put it right smack in the middle of the BMW M3’s crosshairs.

According to Motor Trend, the ATS-V will carry a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 engine that will produce 425 horsepower — the exact same output as its German competitor. More importantly, or at least until we hear more about it, Caddy also has plans to build an even more powerful ATS-V, which will reportedly be called the ATS-V+. That one is expected to use a bigger V-8 engine that could potentially have as much as 500 horsepower on tap.

These announcements carry a lot of significance for Cadillac in its attempt to be a player in the sports coupe segment. With plenty of European brands staking their respective claims in the U.S. market, America had to be represented. Cadillac is trying to answer that call and judging by the way the ATS was received at the North American International Auto Show , there will be a lot of interested folks out there waiting to for the company to develop the ATS-V.
