EA Mobile has just released Need For Speed Undercover for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. Although Undercover is being eclipsed by SHIFT on traditional consoles, running from the police is working out well for the portable Apple units. The new game features 20 customizable licensed cars like the R35 GT-R and Carrera GT for only $9.99.
While the rest of the developers at EA Games were busy perfecting the company’s latest racing simulator, Need For Speed SHIFT, another group was occupying their time in the virtual universe of Playstation HOME. The new section called the EA Sports Complex, features several sports-related mini-games, and the latest addition to the Complex is EA Sports Racing. The game allows for up to four players to burn rubber in Formula 1 inspired machines at a time. The mini-game is quite impressive and has more depth than regular flash games and will certainly entice lots of gamers, especially considering that the game is free.

The game’s creators have released a few more images of these virtual racers at speed. Judging by the game’s trailer and these screenshots, Need For Speed SHIFT very well could be the next standard in racing simulators.

In the spirit of Ferrari’s recent video game offering and BMW’s expression of joy advertising campaign, Volvo will be joining the competition by offering a free PC and iPod based racing game with the new S60 Concept Car as the star of the show. Teaming up with fellow Sweedish videogame developers SimBin, Volvo plans on releasing Volvo-The Game, for free, on May 26. The game will give players the opportunity to race the concept car along with a host of other Volvo racecars on two different tracks and three different difficulty levels.
The makers of Need For Speed are apparently appealing to fans of the hamburger logo with their most recent screenshots from their foray into a true racing simulator, Need For Speed SHIFT. Middleaged fans will notice the Hakosuka GT-R from the early 1970’s in the traditional red, white and blue Nissan livery. The 1969 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R, known as the original Godzilla.

The videogame makers Codemasters are the proud owners of Formula 1 licensing. So with the approval of Bernie Ecclestone the game developers are teasing the public with this trailer for their latest racing creation. Although the video reveals almost nothing about the game, it made me anctious to run out and buy a Nintendo Wii. Videogame makers SEGA are expanding their arcade lineup with a new simulator based on the classic American symbol of Excess the Hummer. The system is simply called “Hummer” and has been designed as a full motion arcade game that moves along with the operator’s inputs while displaying the game footage on the oversized monitors in front of the driver.
