classic collection sale sets records of 36 million

A former Los Angeles Times publisher, Otis Chandler, had an impressive colection that includes classic cars and motorcycles, muscle cars and racing Porsches. The publisher died early this year and on October 21 the monetary value of that collection was set and it exceeded anyone’s expectations - $36 million for 90 cars and motorcycles.

A 1931 Duesenberg Model J was sold for $2.64 million dollars. A 1904 Mercedes sold for $2.255 million, while the mere million dollar cars included four Packards, a 1912 Oldsmobile, a Renault Vanderbilt Racer and a Mercer Raceabout.

Among the 41 motorcycles sold were 12 that went for over $100,000 (and two more at $99,000!).

Wow gorgeous car up there! Great posting...always a big fan of classic cars since I’m in the auto industry. That’s an amazing record!
