GM offers dealer incentives

General Motors has begun a dealer incentive campaign which will be in effect through the end of August, aimed at boosting September sales figures. Though this campaign does not provide money directly to the purchaser, it does give the dealer more ability to cut the price to the customer.
 
For each vehicle sold by the dealer between August 23rd and August 31st, the dealer will get a $250 certificate. These certificates can be used by the dealer in September to reduce the dealer’s price on a vehicle, and that reduction can be passed along to the customer. The dealer can group the certificates: up to four may be used on a car and up to two on a truck. 
In other words, by applying four certificates to a car, the price can be cut by $1000.
 
The program is one that GM has done before, and is designed to move out 2007 vehicles at the end of the model year.
