Compete.com, a website that tracks consumer website data, has revealed some really interesting numbers about the new Chevrolet Malibu and its competition.
The folks at Chevy have got to be smiling.
In December, the Malibu drove traffic on the Chevrolet.com website to a level higher than that on Toyota.com. The last time that happened was in 2006, when the new Silverado was being introduced.
Moreover, the number of Camry shoppers who cross-shop the Malibu on third-party websites has tripled. It’s still not huge: only about ten percent, but that’s up from 3.6% in September. A similar pattern holds for those that shop the Honda Accord. 12% of them are cross shopping the Malibu.
Overall, since its introduction, the Malibu has increased this web traffic by over 300%, and now exceeds that of the other vehicles in the segment, which include, besides the Camry and Accord, the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, and Hyundai Sonata.
