Mercedes SLC spy photos

The SLC has the same dimensions as the current SLR. It will be based on the next-generation SL and will be a front/mid-engine car with rear-wheel drive model. A first concept will be unveiled next year at Geneva Motor Show.

The SLC will herald an important new technology for Mercedes. Although it has some experience of using aluminium, this will be the first time it has used the lightweight material extensively - and the low-volume SLC is designed to pave the way for wider use of alloys. The 2012 SL roadster, codenamed R231, will be next to get the lightweight treatment.

It will be powered by a modified 6.2-liter AMG V-8 engine with an output of 600 hp. Price will be around $200.000 and will be limited to only 500 units.
