According to Auto Motor Und Sport, Mercedes is working on a new S-Class that will only use 6.6 liter of gas on 100 kilometers (or 35 mpg).
The new S-Class will be unveiled in September at Frankfurt Motor Show. In addition Mercedes will use a 2,2-Liter-Bluetec-Diesel engine for the S-Class that has an output of 204 hp.
In order to reduce the consumption in such a manner, Mercedes will use for the first time a four-cylinder in the S-Class, which is coupled with a mild hybrid system. The new S-Class will go on sale starting 2008.
