| The Associated Press is reporting that Ferrari has filed a criminal complaint in the Italian courts against Nigel Stepney, its former technical director. According to the AP report, he is accused of attempting to sabotage Ferrari team cars prior to the Grand Prix of Monaco. According to Italian news agency ANSA, six days before the Monaco race, a powder was found by Ferrari employees on the fuel tanks of cars to be driven by Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. Apparently some parts may also have been tampered with, as ANSA reports that parts on the cars were replaced and the powder turned over to police. Though a Ferrari spokesman yesterday refused to say much about the matter, today another Ferrari spokesman, Luca Colajanni, is quoted by the AP as saying that Stepney was “cited in a deposition in a Modena court,” suggesting that some evidence had been uncovered by police investigation into the Monaco incident that is now being acted upon. It was not immediately clear whether the reported criminal case is in addition to the previously reported civil case, or whether they are the same matter.
