| Nigel Stepney, the former Ferrari team development director reportedly accused by Ferrari of attempting to sabotage team Formula One cars prior to the Grand Prix of Monaco, has denied any wrongdoing. His Maranello house had been raided by police last month and he is reportedly the subject of a criminal investigation in Italy. “I have confidence I’ll be cleared by the legal process that is now taking place. It is just part of a dirty tricks campaign and everything is in the hands of my lawyer, so we’ll wait and see what happens,” he said. Stepney’s contract with Ferrari would have ended this year, and Stepney had made it clear he would entertain offers from other teams. He had recently discussed prospects with Honda. Stepney is currently vacationing in the Philippines with his fiancé and her child. He denied reports that he had fled from the investigation, pointing out that his airline reservations had been made by the Ferrari travel office. “They know where I am,” he said.
