2009 is the 60th anniversary of the Citroen 2CV (deux chevaux): the quirky little car that got France on wheels and is as iconic to Citroen as the original Beetle is to Volkswagen . To commemorate this anniversary, Citroen decided to give the little budget-minded car an upgrade. The company chosen by Citroen to design this edition was Hermes, the well-known French designer whose last automotive project was the slightly more upscale Bugatti Veyron FBG by Hermes .
The 1989 Citroen 2CV 6 Special chosen for the project was one of the latest produced models (production was finally stopped in 1990.) This includes a new repainted body in brown. Inside there is a natural leather trim on the door panels, interior rearview mirror, new gear knob, steering wheel and seats.
This 2CV better be something good to look at. The 29 hp on tap from the 602cc two cylinder engine means it isn’t going anywhere fast.
