With sales of premium small cars  on the rise across Europe, it appears that the plans for a replacement have now been accelerated.
Audi will almost certainly replace the  costly aluminium space frame with conventional construction.

Based on the platform of the  Volkswagen Polo (Known internally as PQ25), the new A2 will change the front wheel drive with Audi's trademark Quattro All Wheel Drive system along with an optional turbocharger.

The new baby-Audi defer much from the original A2, that was monovolume.This should  include more aggressive styling with the shooting brake-shape, as well as the company's now trademark large trapezoidal grill.

The Audi Shooting Brake Concept presented in  Tokyo Motor Show, is the  key to Audi's new model.
The new structure  will recive lighter suspension components from the parent company,Volkswagen.
Rumored engines include improved versions of the existing  1.6-litre four-cylinder FSI petrol and 1.4-litre three-cylinder TDi  with a new six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic transmission.
