Toyota will unveil the 2009 Avensis at the Paris Auto Show in October. But Toyota has revealed the first official image and details about its popular European sedan. U.S. buyers may be more familiar with the Avensis as the basis for the Scion tC.
The new Avensis gets more powerful engines, with lower CO2 emissions. Choices include three gas engines: a 1.8 with 132 or 147 hp and a 2.0-liter with 152 hp. Diesel engines include a 2.0-liter with 126 or 150 horsepower and a 2.2-liter four with 177 hp. Sales will begin in the second quarter of 2009 on the market.
Next to the Avensis at the Paris Show is expected to be the iQ and the production version of the Urban Cruiser.
