As we last reported this summer, Nissan is working on a new rear-wheel drive sportscar that is scheduled to be revealed in 2010. Today the Japanese magazine BestCar brings a new rendering of the car that will likely be the replacement for the Japan market Silvia. Drifters can rejoice, under the hood of the FR sportscar, Nissan will likely put a HR16DET inline 4 cylinder turbo with VCR (Variable Compression Ratio Piston-Crank System) which will produce between 220 - 250 hp and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. At a light 1250kg (2755 lbs), it should keep the performance lively, which is good because Toyota is rumored to be preparing a direct rival for the Japan home market. Nissan has made no announced intentions of bringing the car to the U.S. But since it is looking to keep the car under 2,000,000 yen (under $20,000), a rear-wheel drive econo car with good power will always find a welcomed home on these shores. .
5 comments: 2010 Nissan FR Sports Car renderingsMaybe we can also pick up some of those hot model chicks they mentioned in Tokyo Drift. I’ve heard they are crazy about guys who drive Japanese performance cars. Haha! No wait. I think I was being serious. I think..... I have a good mind to move to Japan just to enjoy the cheaper, better looking and performing cars over there.
it’d be nice if they brought this car to the U.S. it’d get alot of attention in the auto market but they should stick with the 2 liter engine with around 300hp and close to 300lbs of torque like that of the evo but rwd... that’d be impressive make some improvements on the old SR20DET maybe make it a SR20VET
