According to Motor Trend, Volkswagen Beetle will get a new look in 2010. It will share the same platform with the Golf VI and the upcoming Scirocco. It will be styled in California and engineered in Germany.
It will get a more modern and aggressive look compared to the current Beetle. The new Beetle will debut in 2010 it will be offered in many different variants, including a hatchback, soft-top convertible, a micro-van, a wagon-based crossover and even a pickup variant is in the works.
While plan to move away from the classic Beetle shape may end up backfiring if carried out, it’s an understandable move for Volkswagen to attempt to create a sub-brand using the Beetle name — much like what BMW is attempting with its Mini lineup.
