2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI gets an extra 20HP in the UK

In a strange and unpredictable marketing strategy, Subaru UK has decided to give potential customers the extra oomph they may need to go out and purchase an Impreza WRX STI. Between now and June 31, 2011, Subaru UK will be selling the standard WRX STI models for the typical £32,995 (about $53,500 at the current exchange rates), but add on an upgrade in engine power and satellite navigation system for FREE. Yes, that’s F-R-E-E.

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI comes with a 2.5 liter Boxer 16-valve turbo engine that produces 300 HP, but during this promotional period, the engine will be tweaked to deliver 320 HP and 331 lbs-ft of torque. With this extra 20 HP, the improved STI will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.

Next to the engine upgrade, the STI will also get a Pioneer satellite navigational system fitted as standard. The system features touch-screen capability, Bluetooth, and iPod connection. The screen is also detachable and can be connected to a laptop via a USB port for easy downloading of additional information.

The list of equipment for the Subaru will also include symmetrical AWD, keyless entry and push button start, hill start assist, climate control, SI-Drive, leather Recaro seats, 18 inch alloy wheels, remote locking, satellite tracker, and cruise control.

Subaru UK didn’t mention the reason behind this added bonus, but we don’t think anyone in the UK will mind.

I totally agree, whether you upgrade your car or not if its Subaru you would have the satisfaction for the car. And whether you level up your car, the important thing is you give interest to your car performance and to make it more usable for better good.

Wow!So its in AWD platform, meaning this car would be spacious! Plus, another good thing for this car is that the navigational system upgrade would be free!

Well, upgrades or not, the WRX Impreza still is a great car. But, yeah, the extra HP is really a nice boost and will get you somewhere faster.

I think folks would be getting the WRX more for the interior upgrades that come with it. The engine performance boost is actually rather easy to make up for buy putting in some aftermarket parts.

Well, since this one is an Impreza, there is really nothing to worry about that. The line is already well established when it comes reliability, so I don’t expect this one to go down on that part.

hmm. I don’t have a good feeling about this. Its not bad that they come up with such promo but a consumer, I will think twice on buying one since the reliability of the car is at stake.

Honestly, this is my first time hearing this kind of promotion. Wow!Upgrade on the engine power for free is so unbelievable! Well, what are you waiting for, grab one now!lol

Well, considering that they would be giving all these goodies for free, it would be much better than going to a tuner to have them put into the car.

Well, that one is a rather surprising move. Those add ons would usually cost you around two or three thousand bucks more, but they’re giving it for free, so what’s up?

Who would ask the reason for this free goodies, just like that. And lucky those guys who will be opting this 20 HP and navigational system absolutely free. Although its a marketing technique to urge the potential buyers to move faster, it is a good try.

Hey, is this the Corolla-based Impreza? Sorry, still can’t get over that April Fool’s joke that Toyota pulled off last time. But this one is actually good.

Where are you getting the statistic that the STi will do 0-60 mph in 4.9 sec with the additional 20 bhp? It already hits that mark in 4.7 sec.
