Along with the new A8 luxury sedan Audi is also set to bring a more powerful version for those of you who want to combine luxury with sport. This version was recently caught testing at the Nurburgring test track for the first time. The 2012 Audi S8 will be distinguished by the standard S-line upgrades like LED lights, lower hanging side skirts, a chrome grille, and side mirrors as well as a set of sporty 21 inch wheels. Audi design director Stefan Sielaff says the S8 will influence future performance Audi models in terms of design which means future models will see more carbon fiber and aluminum. Under the hood there will be a supercharged V8 engine bringing more low-end torque and better fuel economy than the V10 fitted in the current model. This V8 engine will produce a total output of 444 HP and will be mated to a 7-speed double-clutch S Tronic. The new Audi S8 will go on sale in 2011 and rumors say it will also be offered in the North American market. .
6 comments: 2012 Audi S8 caught testing at Nurburgring It’s not that surprising anymore to see a super car in testing, most of them are also wanted to reveal it for the consumer to have an idea what it looks and performs.
so, Audi has just reviled A8 L W12 with 6.3 liter engine producing 500hp, so are you still sure about Turbo-charged V8 with 444bhp - that makes no sense
The new turbo-eight will also deliver much improved fuel economy, while the reduced weight over the front axle should help make for a more dynamic driving experience, while keeping the luxo-barge’s overall weight down.
Some spy pictures are absolutely pointless, all I see is an A8 with black rims and quad tailpipes. Can anyone else spot the difference? In regards with the engine, my money will be on either the Gallardo’s v10 or a twin-turbo V8....or maybe they just get mad and put in the same engine of the future lambo Jota.....
