The next generation Mercedes SLK->ke1683 is expected to make its world debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Until then all we can do is make suppositions on what it will look like and what engines will be placed under the hood.

The latest render comes from the German magazine AutoBild, who suggests that the 2012 SLK will take its DNA design language from the new SLS AMG sports car. The latest spy shots also reveal the next SLK will feature a F1 nose, a less optical tapered rectangular grille, a large chrome bar, and an optional glass roof.

For the first time ever, the SLK will be offered with a diesel engine and a four-cylinder 2.1 twin-turbo engine producing 204 hp and 500 Nm. The SLK 250 CDI will be well equipped to tease the Audi TT Roadster TDI->ke1081 and Alfa Romeo Spider->ke1026. The SLK 350 CGI will be powered by the new 306 hp V6 engine and will be aimed at models like the BMW Z4->ke289.

Sales will begin in April 2011.
