Okay folks, we are finally to the eve of the 2013 New York International Auto Show -- one of the biggest shows of the year. The red carpets are rolled out and the red velvet veils have been draped over their respective models. It's time to get a brief preview of what debuts you can expect to see at the show.
Unfortunately, this year is not going to yield quite as many debuts as we're used to. Rather, it will feature a select number of all-new models mixed in with a slew of previously released models. Also lacking from this year's NYIAS are sports and muscle cars, as by our count, there are only a few being debuted over the next week.
Despite the lack of models and the severe lack of high-performance models, this still looks to be an eventful show with the headliners likely being the all-new Range Rover Sport, the Jaguar XJR, the 2014 Camaro SS and the SRT Viper TA.
Also worth a look are the 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C and the all-new 2014 Scion tC.

Super Cars
2014 SRT Viper TA
The SRT Viper TA is the automaker’s response to the ZR1 essentially walking all over the new Viper GTS in Motor Trend testing. Pretty much all of the details have been released on the model, as we know it will feature an upgraded aerodynamics package, Sidewinder II wheels, carbon-fiber front splitters, a rear spoiler and rear applique, seats that can accommodate three- and six-point harnesses, slightly improve performance numbers, and an updated suspension system to allow it to handle a little better.
Debut Date: March 27, 2013
Debut Time: Unreleased
Muscle Cars
2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS
We know that a new-generation Camaro is in the works, but the 2014 model year will not be the beginning of it. Rather, the 2014 Camaro SS will simply be a revision to the existing model. Since Chevy is only teasing the SS model and not the other trims, we can only assume that the improvements will be to the mechanics and maybe the addition of some add-on styling components. We’re hoping to see the SS get an upgraded engine; maybe borrow the 7.0-liter from the Z06 or even adopt the new 3.6-liter turbocharged V-6 from Cadillac. Chances are that both of those engines are out of the question though – ah, pipedreams…
Debut Date: March 27, 2013
Debut Time: 12:45 p.m.
2013 Shelby 1000 S/C
The Shelby 1000 S/C is an improvement on the already existing 1000 S/C model offered up by Shelby, but with some wicked performance additions. Basically, Shelby gutted a GT500 and tuned the engine to pump out 1,200 horsepower on pump fuel – 250 more horsepower than the previous 1000 S/C featured. Also added in are an upgraded suspension system and a big-brake package. Not all of the information has been released yet, but we do know that the package runs $154,995 on top of the base GT500 price.

Sports Cars
2014 Jaguar XJR-S GT
Ah, shortly after Jaguar officially released all of the information on the XJR-S, it revealed the all-new XKR-S GT model. Finally, a true sports car – well, technically a “Grand Tourer” – for the 2013 NYIAS. This beast features a supercharged 5-liter V-8 with 550 ponies and 502 pound-feet of torque to play around with. This sprints it to 60 mph in an astounding 3.9 seconds and gives it a 186 mph top speed. Additionally, it has a nasty carbon-fiber body kit that produces up to 320 pounds of downforce. Unfortunately (fortunately for some), Jag will only produce 30 units with 25 of them heading to the U.S.
Debut Date: March 26, 2013
Debut Time: 2:15 p.m.
2014 Subaru WRX Concept
This one’s not yet confirmed, but we think it deserves a mention. See, Subaru has based the WRX on the same old Impreza platform since its inception. Sure, there is nothing wrong with that, but it really limited the styling possibilities with this otherwise bad-ass sports sedan. Well, these images leaked online today and they sure look like the official renderings of the soon-to-be-unveiled WRX – sans the “Impreza” name. Add in the fact that Subaru announced on the 20th that it would “reveal an all-new performance concept car.” We really have no idea what engine this concept will feature, but you can rest assured that it will crest the 300-horsepower mark.

Luxury Cars
2014 BMW 328d
Finally, the U.S. will get a diesel-powered 3-Series, just as we have suspected for the past few years would eventually happen. We know the basics of the BMW 328d, like its 180-horsepower TwinPower four-cylinder engine, a 7.2-second sprint to 60 mph and 40 mpg. What we are looking forward to hearing in N.Y. is its retail price, and all of its equipment and options.
Debut Date: March 27,2013
Debut Time: 11:45 a.m.
BMW Concept Active Tourer
This new hybrid hatchback features a three-cylinder engine with an electric motor that helps it achieve an estimated 95 mpg. Though we don't expect to see it in production form any time soon, it will likely make it into production at some point. We already saw it in Paris, but this is its North American debut.
Debut Date: March 27,2013
Debut Time: 11:45 a.m.
2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo
The BMW 3 Series GT made its world debut in Geneva, but now it's getting its first taste of U.S. soil. This variant of the 3-Series features a longer wheelbase, a roomier rear seat, power tailgate, additional luggage space and a standard panoramic sunroof. It can be had later in the summer of 2013 with either a TwinPower four-cylinder engine or a an in-line six-pot.
Debut Date: March 27,2013
Debut Time: 11:45 a.m.
2014 Cadillac CTS
The new CTS has already been unveiled via multiple leaks, but Caddy could still surprise us with some extra information. It will features an all-new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 engine that pumps out 420 horsepower as an available option. It also features the same engines as last year just below the aforementioned top-line engine. Additionally, the exterior has been revised into a truly sexy piece of engineering.
If you cannot make it to New York, you can see the reveal on March 26th at 7:15 p.m. EDT right here.
Debut Date: March 26,2013
Debut Time: 7:15 p.m.
2014 Hyundai Equus
The 2014 Equus is expected to carry over aesthetically, but the interior and exterior will feature a slew of updated features. Expect things like alternative rims, upgraded infotainment systems, massagers in the seats, upgraded upholstery and other things of that nature. To the naked eye, the 2014 Equus will be nearly identical to the 2013, with the exception of a little less chrome.
Debut Date: March 27,2013
Debut Time: Unreleased
2014 Jaguar XJR
After what seemed like an eternity, Jag has finally added the XJ sedan to the growing R lineup. We learned from Jaguar that the 2014 XJR will play host to a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine with 550 horsepower, a bespoke chassis and upgraded aerodynamics. Price, release date, availability and standard features are all still a mystery. But, we expect this mystery to be solved in New York.

SUVs
2014 Dodge Durango
For the past few days, Dodge has been teasing us with a slightly revised version of the Durango. Though that is not the most exciting thing in the world, it is still a noteworthy model. The only thing that we know for sure about the Durango is that it will receive the same “racetrack” style taillights as the Dodge Dart. Dodge is also claiming that this will be the “most technologically advanced, fuel-efficient and stylish Durango ever;” hm, we’ll see about that.

Debut Time: 11:40 a.m.
2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid
The newest entry into Infiniti’s lineup is the QX60 Hybrid, which will feature a supercharged 2.5-liter engine with a 15 kW (20-horsepower) electric motor. Infiniti estimates this SUV at about 250 horsepower and will price it starting at about $63,000. Other that a rough starting price and the basic drivetrain details, the HX60 Hybrid is still a relative unknown.
Debut Date: March 27. 2013
Debut Time: Unreleased
2014 Jeep Cherokee
The Cherokee returns to Jeep’s lineup and boy is it ugly. Despite its ugliness, we have to give Jeep a little credit for stepping outside of the box and creating a model with its own styling while still maintaining certain Jeep trademarks. Short of the confirmation of the model, Jeep didn’t let us in on any of the details, but you can expect one of Fiat’s famed MultiAir four-cylinder engines to grace the engine compartment as standard and a V-6 to be an available option.

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
We received a teaser image from Land Rover, then suddenly a leaked image showing a completely redesigned Range Rover Sport leaked onto the Net. From the looks of it, this leaked image is 100 percent accurate and we can’t say that we’re too fond of it.
Debut Date: March 27, 2013 (March 26th drive through Manhattan)
Debut Time: Unreleased
2014 Toyota Highlander
All we received from Toyota on the new Highlander is an image of the headlight – woo hoo. So, your guess is as good as ours. However, we expect the Highlander to use the same styling cues as the RAV4. We also expect it to carry a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 178 horsepower and an optional 3.5-liter V-6 with 268 horsepower. It may also feature a hybrid model, but that is still up for debate.
Debut Date: March 27. 2013

Coupes/Family Cars
2014 Buick LaCrosse
The Buick LaCrosse will receive an updated interior and exterior for the 2014 model year. The exterior includes a more pronounced grille, hood ports, restyled taillights and a revised rear skirt that integrates the dual exhaust into it – on dual-exhaust-equipped models. Another huge upgrade for the 2014 LaCrosse is the addition of the new Ultra Luxury Interior Package. We’re sure this new package will be a highlighted part of the LaCrosse at the show, so we’ll likely have a lot of information on it.

2014 Chrysler 200 S Special Edition
The S Special Edition variant of the 2014 Chrysler 200 is set to show itself in true flesh form at the NYIAS. Though this will be its official debut, there shouldn’t be any surprises, as Chrysler already released most of the info on it. On the outside, you can expect a gloss-black mesh grille with a chrome surround, platinum-chrome fog lights, a deck-lid spoiler, bumper-integrated exhaust tips and 18-inch polished wheels. Inside, you’re getting a Boston Acoustic sound system, blacked out gear shifter, cup holders, air vents and steering-wheel-mounted buttons, and perforated leather on the steering wheel and armrest. Under the hood, you’ll see the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The coolest thing about this car is that it will be limited to 200 units with each one featuring a hand-painted serial number.
Like we said, not much left to the imagination here.

2014 Honda Odyssey
Surprisingly, the Honda Odyssey is one of the models to debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show that we know nearly nothing about. All we know is that it will be displayed along with a few other Honda Models, all of which have already been unveiled, at the show. We don’t expect anything too drastic with this successful minivan. Even the fossil under the hood – the aging 3.5-liter V-6 – will likely remain the base engine.

2014 Scion tC Sports Coupe
Since the FR-S debuted, the tC has been neglected by the media. Well, it will not garner at least a little attention, as Scion is unveiling an all-new tC for the 2014 model year. We expect to see a familiar design as earlier models, but with a series of upgrades to bring it up with the times. You can also expect to see the same 180-horsepower, 2.5-liter engine under its hood. But, you never know, Scion may have a surprise up its sleeve with the tC.
If you can’t make it to the show, you can see the unveiling live online at http://www.scion.com/live

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid
The XV Crosstrek is likely the most boring of the Subaru models, but it does have a new hybrid drivetrain debuting in New York. Subaru released absolutely no information on this model, it’ll be at the show and will feature Subaru’s famed Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive System. Don’t expect anything too Earth shattering from the XV, except maybe nearly 50 mpg.
