You know what they say that there is nothing like an accident? This is pretty much what happened with the next-generation Cadillac CTS, as people say General Motor “accidentally” dropped an image of the next CTS online, but we don’t believe in accidents. The "accidental" image appeared online, while Cadillac->ke18 unveiled the ELR winter chassis testing.

In fact, this sounds pretty much like a confirmation of the previous rumors: the new-generation CTS will be unveiled sometime this year and the production will begin at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in September of 2013.

The second-generation Cadillac CTS will move from the current Sigma platform to GM's new Alpha platform. Under the hood, we will see a lineup of new engines: the standard model will get a 270-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from the ATS and the top version will keep the current 3.6-liter V6 engine. The CTS-V version could use a 6.2-liter V8 engine with an output of more than 556 horsepower.
