Chevrolet->ke199 has just released word on several new vehicles for the world-famous SEMA show->ke216. Among them is this Spark EV Tech Performance concept. Sure it’s an all-electric->ke1030 Spark with no conventional gasoline engine, but don’t let that fool you.

This EV totes 400 pound-feet of tire-shredding torque with beefier axles and aluminum wheels that propel the hatchback from naught to 60 in 7.5 seconds. Even the holy grail of muscle cars - the1969 Camaro SS powered by a 350 cubic-inch, small-block V-8 didn’t produce torque numbers like that.

The Spark also comes with a unique power-delivery algorithm programmed into its computer that enhances acceleration. A custom exterior color and graphics help set the Spark EV apart, and a backlit Chevy ‘bowtie’ on the grille gives it a mean look at night.

Inside the Spark, Chevy added a few basic custom touches, like doorsill plates, floor mats and pedal covers. A military-style, flip-up “activation switch” on the dash adds excitement to starting the EV, and body-color stitching on the shifter boot and steering wheel help liven up the Spark’s interior.

Spark EV Tech Performance Concept - In Detail

This hopped-up Spark EV features a custom green and white paintjob, an aggressive front apron, and widened front and rear wheel wells for a stouter look.

Around back, we see that the white on the top continues down to the rear hatch, tying the front and rear together nicely. Chevrolet also added in a stylish rear diffusor that adds even more aggressiveness to this typically timid EV hatchback.

2014 Chevrolet Spark

The Chevy Sonic was a game-changer for General Motors’ sub-compact car game when it came out in 2011. It replaces the sad little Aveo with a car that feels much more substantial and well-built. Standard features on the 2014 Sonic include air-conditioning, Bluetooth, OnStar, an auxiliary audio jack, and a tilt and telescoping steering wheel.

Options for the higher LT and LTZ trim packages include premium heated leatherette seats, Chevy MyLink, and an iPod interface. Upgrading further to the RS package adds four-wheel, disc brakes, a sportier suspension and 17-inch wheels.

The Spark is offered with either a 1.8-liter, in-line four-cylinder or a 1.4-liter, turbocharged mill. Both engines produce the same 138 horsepower, but the turbo 1.4-liter is the definite pick for a better driving experience and a peppier 0-to-60 mph run.

Pricing for the Spark start at $14,185 for the base model.
