The tuners at VF Engineering have been developing forced induction systems for German built sports cars for a number of years now, however with the 525 HP V10 powered Audi R8 about to be unleashed on the streets their latest project could be their most profitable yet. VF’s latest endeavor includes one a 4.2 Liter FSI V8s a custom designed blower a little magic from GIAC and one of Audi’s mid engine aluminum super cars. The supercharger pumps a mere 5 psi of boost into the combustion chamber while the stratified injection has been retuned with a simple ECU reflash from the engine software scientists at GIAC.
What is so great about the package is that is will raise the current R8’s output from 420 HP all the way up to 550 HP, this makes a modified R8 even more powerful than the upcoming Lamborghini inspired ride. The 5.2 Liter V10 is only 75 pounds heavier than the FSI V8 version , so if the design team at VF Engineering can keep the roots style supercharger and intercooler light enough it will weigh a bit less too. Either way, the bargain that you get by modifying a slightly used super car as opposed to going out and purchasing a brand new 525 HP Audi R8 is simply undeniable.
