When Alfa Romeo->ke1386 was first founded in 1910 by the name A.L.F.A., they hired a chief engineer whose job was to design vehicles that were more suitable for the Italian market. This man was Giuseppe Merosi and his ideas gave them the A.L.F.A 24 HP and the A.L.F.A 40/60 HP which paved the way for Alfa's entry into the racing scene. Now the man responsible for the Vittorio Jano Sport Wagon Concept, Marco Procaccini, is paying tribute to the Italian designer with the Giuseppe Merosi Design Study.

This 3-door coupe measures 4,300mm in length, 1,810mm in width, and 1,320mm in height, providing enough room for four occupants. It is distinguished by extremely aggressive lines, a pronounced Alfa Romeo grille, a V-shaped engine bonnet, LED headlamps, and an impressive set of wheels. However, one of the most interesting specifications for the concept is the addition of rear wheel drive, a concept long forgotten by Alfa Romeo after their ES30 (Experimental Sportscar 300).

Chances are we will not be seeing this design study anywhere near an open road, but, somewhere, Giuseppe Merosi is smiling at Procaccini's tribute vehicle.
