There’s no secret anymore that Alfa Romeo is working on a new hatchback that will compete with models like Mini. The Junior will be launched at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.

The Junior will go on sale on the Italian market in June 2008, and on the other European markets in October 2008. Pricing will start from 16.000 euro. The Junior will replace the Alfa 147.

The Junior project, codename 955, is developed on the leadership of Mauro Pierallini. It will measure 4 meters in lenght and will be based on the Fiat Grande Punto „Small”.

The Junior will offer the latest active and passive security systems. It will feature active SDC suspensions and will be the first non-Ferrari model to use the "Manettino" system.

The engine range will start with the 1.5 liter engine with an output of 105 hp; next will be: 1.4 JTB (135 hp), 1.4 JTB (180 hp) şi 1.8 JTB (230 hp). They will be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Alfa Romeo plans to sell around 75.000 units a year.
