Fiat->ke30 Chrysler->ke21 is preparing an all-out blitzkrieg of Alfa Romeo->ke1386 models destined for the U.S. over the next few years, even stating eight models will be in Stateside showrooms by 2018. The news comes by way of Alfa Romeo’s own Harald Wester and Reid Bigland at the LA Auto Show,->ke211 along with FCA’s head honcho Sergio Marchionne in the automaker’s extensive five-year plan. The specific vehicle type is technically still a rumor, fostered by inside sources of Automotive News Europe.

That mid-size sedan Alfa’s Giulia, was originally slatted for a 2014 U.S. debut, but was ultimately delayed. The car’s next planned attempt at U.S. dealers includes a new name, though one hasn’t officially be announced. Wester says the ‘unspecified’ model will debut in June 2015.

Bringing Alfa Romeo to the U.S. will help promote the FCA brand to a global player, pushing Alfa’s sales from literally zero to Marchinonne’s goal of 150,000 units. That will certainly help contribute to Alfa’s overall sales goal of 400,000 units globally by 2018.

Why it matters

With Fiat Chrysler’s recent success comes the desire to grow. With the relatively untapped potential that lies in Alfa Romeo, the automaker only seems wise to start building that brand. FCA will have a tough road ahead as the American car-buying public hasn’t seen an Alfa since 1996. Perhaps the same expertise that helped re-launch Fiat in the U.S. will be utilized here as well.

Alfa Romeo 4C

The Alfa Romeo 4C is a specialized sports car that rivals things like Lotus in terms of light-weight design, small yet powerful engines, and low-volume sales numbers. The 4C marks Afla’s official reentry into the U.S. as it slowly becomes available for the 2015 model year.

Powering the mid-engined car is a turbocharged 1.7-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 240 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A dual dry clutch six-speed autobox does the shifting and the rear tires do the spinning. Zero to 60 mph comes in 4.5 seconds while the top speed is rated at 160 mph.

Pricing for the 4C starts at roughly $70,000 at launch, but a more base model will be offered later with a suspected price around $55,000.
