At the end of november, Aston Martin will unveil a two-seater version for the V8 Vantage at Los Angeles auto show. The two-seater will be called Roadster and not Volante as the typical soft-top Astons. Priced at arround $170.000 the new Roadster is expected to go on sale in spring 2007.
The two-seater will be powered by a 4.2-litre V8 engine (the same as the coupe version) with a maximum output of 380 hp. The rear-end of the Roadster it’s a handsome rump, flowing into a lip spoiler just like the coupe’s. The powered, fabric roof stows to reveal those twin buttresses, and a wind deflector folds up to soothe turbulence. As the coupe, the Roadster it is based on Aston’s aluminium VH platform.
The Roadster it is expected to have the same performance as the coupe: the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 5.0 seconds and a top speed of 175 mph. Also it will feature a six-speed manual gearbox, or the new paddleshift ’box unveiled at September’s Paris motor show.
