For the most part, boats and cars don’t have a whole lot in common. Sure, some boats use engines available in cars with special equipment designed to make them suitable for on-water use, but outside of that, cars and boats are generally two different worlds. Now, Aston Martin is stepping into the Yacht game with the Aston Martin AM37 – a 37-foot vessel that is built by Quintessence Yachts and the same guys who brought you the Aston Martin One-77, Vulcan, and even the DB11.

As you can see from the images, the yacht is luxurious and appointed very well with things like wooden decks, a swimming platform, electronic anchor system, air conditioning, refrigerator, and even a coffee machine. There’s mood lighting inside to go with a car-like interior including the steering wheel itself. It also has an electric “bimini” cover that closes up the rear passenger area on demand. Rounding off the package is fingerprint recognition. Thinks like underwater lights and a cocktail bar are available as options on this amazing piece of Aston Martin Brilliance.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martins EVP and Chief Creative Officer, said, “AM37 is a pure translation of the Aston Martin DNA into an entirely new maritime concept. The powerboat reflects our values in terms of power, beauty, and soul. The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the design language and proportion, we have transferred this DNA into AM37. It was important to us when considering this project to make sure that the boat design was as beautiful and timeless as our cars, the AM37 is a striking boat with fantastic proportion and elegance.”

And, as something that sports the Aston Martin name, there’s plenty going on in the propulsion department as well. Available with propeller or jet propulsion, the AM37 can be had with either two 430-horsepower gasoline engines, two 370-horsepower diesel engines. If you go for the AM37 S, it comes with two 520-horsepower gasoline engines. You read that correctly; in range-topping form, the AM37 comes with 1,030 horsepower on tap. That’s nearly as much as two V-12 Vantages. Pretty wild, huh?

I must say it’s pretty crazy to see Aston Martin jump in the Marine world, but at the same time, it’s really not that surprising. Aston-Martin has been a loved brand of the wealthy for some time, and wealthy people love yachts. Seriously, yachts are like the world’s biggest status symbol outside of owning your own private jet. Top speed of the AM37 S is said to be 52 knots or nearly 60 mph. That’s pretty fast for a yacht. As with everything from Aston Martin, the interior and exterior can have the same “Q by Aston Martin” personalizing that brings a whole new aspect to tailoring whatever color or materials your overly-wealthy heart desires.
