Audi has just confirmed that the RS5 sports coupe will have a naturally aspirated 4.2 Liter eight cylinder engine that makes 450 HP and 332 lb-ft of torque. The new Audi coupe will be able to go from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 4 seconds and will be on the market by the end of this year. The choice of power plant is an interesting move for the German automaker that pans on downsizing to boosted V6 engines for their high performance vehicles. As it turns out the RS5 will offered as a convertible model. This second RS convertible, the other being the RS4, will makes its debut some time in the near future. When the RS5 hits the U.K. market Audi will be asking for around £60K, about $90,000 here in the U.S. That sleek profile and FSI V8 power should be worth every penny. .
4 comments: Audi Confirms RS5 Convertible Considering the added weight of the V10 and Audi striving to improve handling, a V8 to me would be the better choice. I’m also hoping that they have shaved off some lbs in additon to more HP & trq than the #’s quoted.
Well yea a completely reengineered +500HP V8 sounds great but since they’re already being cheap by using the previous RS4 engine, I thought this would be the least costly way for them
