Audi will be building convertible versions of the A3, A5, and even the R8. A report published in the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport predicts the A3 cabrio will be introduced as soon as spring of next year. According to the magazine, the A5 cabrio and the new R8 Targa will be in introduced the following year, in the spring of 2009.
Audi anticipates annual A3 cabrio production of 23,000 vehicles. The production target for the A5 cabrio is 28,000. The A3 convertible will be assembled in Gyor, Hungary using parts delivered from Audi’s factory in Ingolstadt, Germany. The A5 cabrio and R8 Targa will be built at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm, Germany.
