Australia’s Joss supercar teased

australia 8217 s joss supercar teased picture

When we think of the production of a supercar, we usually don’t think of the Land Down Under as being any part of it. In 2004, all of that changed as Australia-based Joss began working on their first exclusive supercar, the Joss supercar. Apparently, they are saving all of their originality for the actual vehicle and not the name.

Earlier this year we were able to get a few pictures of the prototype for the Joss supercar, but now the company has revealed its first teaser photo. Shaped using physics and not aesthetics, the Joss supercar should have superior aerodynamics and heat dissipation when it finally goes on sale, hopefully in 2011 as originally projected.

Power for the Australian supercar will come from an all aluminum engine provided by a European automaker. This engine is said to produce more than 500hp and will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission with a reverse via linkage system. Stopping power will come from six piston brake calipers in the front and four piston system in the rear with ventilated dics all around. The Joss supercar brags of carbon fiber construction causing it to weigh less than 2,200lbs. It runs the 0-60mph sprint in under three seconds, the quarter mile in 11 seconds, and the estimated top speed is 186mph.

Pricing for the Australian supercar is expected to be around $500,000. Ouch.

Great feature from Australia. They’re trying to compete with other supercars. Who knows, this one might become a hit in the near future.

Oh, Why should I spend my entire money with this one? They haven’t tested it so I am not sure what will be the reactions of other critics about this expensive supercar in Australia.

I would certainly believe that this one will become a hit in Australia! The details of this supercar is so futuristic! I am so excited to see the real one. Perhaps, we have to wait until it finished.

Yeah, you are right.  The interior and the exterior of the car is extremely awesome and the other detailing but as expected its available only on Australia so its blurry to drive one.

They have recently, released the version of this car. And I have to admit that i was drooling on the specification of the car and on its engine. However, it’s too depressing its available only on Australia.

Yes, that it is. I’ve been thinking of its similarities from Spartan V car. Looks like a copy-cat version, definitely am agree with your opinions!

People think it’s the wheels, might be, not sure about Carbon Fiber wheels though.

Bring this to the United States. I don’t care if it’s as a Buick, Chevy or Opel. Just bring it

Alright already, I’m teased. Been teased for a while now. Couldn’t be more teased if you tried.

To me, that doesn’t look like a rim at all. Why would they build a rim with a center knob that can be turned by hand? Looks more like a oil or gas filler cap IMO

Now if you had read the post correctly, the current one is ugly and now the new one is supposed to be better since they are getting a legit designer to pen it.

Perhaps a greater emphasis is being placed on aerodynamics now than in the past. The Nissan GT-R was certainly designed with that in mind first, aesthetics a distant second. Take for instance the Countable, which looks absolutely stunning (or did in its day), yet it’s complete rubbish when it comes to drag coefficient.

I love track cars! The KTM is growing on me, but still not up to Ariel Atom levels, yet. I want to have to think about whether the helmet is appropriate wear for the trip to the ice cream stand

The Aero was a tad faster, top speed, than the original Veyron, sure. But it was slower in literally every other aspect. There’s no comparing it to the Veyron, luxury stand-point or no; it simply didn’t have the 0-60, 0-100, 0-100-0, etc, the pure balls-out acceleration, the beastly, bike-like constant thrust the Veyron afforded.

Well, the name does need a lot of work, but the car sure is looking good. Wonder if it will have off road capabilities.

Reminds me of the Nissan R390 road car.
