The Bavarian automaker BMW has made quite a name for themselves in recent years by inventing previously unknown segments of the new car marketplace. It all started with a brilliant show of marketing when the automaker came up with a replacement for the taboo Sport Utility Vehicle market with the BMW X6->ke2396 Sports Activity Vehicle. More recently, instead of going the crossover route, BMW has reintroduced the more spacious automobile combining the practicality of a wagon and the spirit of a sports car with their Gran Turismo line of vehicles. That family is growing with the upcoming GT variant of the entry level BMW 3 Series GT and this rendering has just hit the internet, giving a cue as to what the future Bimmer will look like and get this, the marketing team has come up with another catchy acronym to describe the vehicle; Progressively Active Coupe.

Although the 3 Series GT is set to be unveiled sometime in 2011 the most recent rumors are suggesting that a full sized concept will make an appearance as early as the Frankfurt Motor Show. The GT will slot in nicely between the ever popular 3 Series sedan and utilitarian wagon. The 3 Series GT will cater to new car buyers looking in the smaller vehicle segment and will share some personalization features like the optional bench or individual seating for the rear passengers. Under the hood BMW will use the latest turbocharged six cylinder gas as well as diesel motors and a few additional petrol and alternatively fueled turbo four bangers.
