BMW M5 laps Nurburgring in 7:55

Just a few days after its official launch, the 2012 BMW M5 has just become the fastest sedan around the Nurburgring race track with an impressive time of 7:55. With this new time, the M5 will be placed above models like the Porsche Panamera Turbo (7:56) and the Cadillac CTS-V (7:59). This new lap time also matches the ’Ring time of the Ferrari F430 .

The BMW M5 is powered by a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 engine with an M TwinPower Turbo package that delivers an impressive 560 HP at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm. The model will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and, when the speed limiter is removed, is capable of hitting an impressive top speed of 190 mph.

The record lap was completed by a BMW driver, but don’t put it in the record books just yet. This is actually an unofficial time, surely to be followed by the real thing shortly.

Well, not really the final test. But it is definitely the ultimate proving ground for some of the best cars around. It’s just too bad that not all auto makers have access to the track.

Yeah I’d agree with you on that one. Nurburgring really is the final set or testing of the car if its good enough.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if that record of the M5 would be beaten off by another car next week, that’s really how it goes in the Nurburgring track. But it is still an impressive feat.

Well now, that one is certainly an impressive debut for the M5, it really showed that it has all the things that speed heads wanted. This would really make the car a must have for them.

Wow, this one is actually almost as good as the the LF-A that they have raced last time it seems that they are really improving on the car these past few months.

Hmm, it seems that a lot of car makers are busy trooping to the Nurburgring track this past month. Well, it is not really that surprising, since that place is considered as the ultimate proving grounds.

Funny that they tout this one as just an “unofficial” time. It seems that they are saying that the car can actually go much faster than that. Well, we probably have to just wait and see that one.

I am sure the official will be ground breaking record smiley
M5 have been and should be the king of all sport sedans

wow...an *unofficial* time that beats the Panamera Turbo is quite impressive considering a RWD beat an AWD.

but I’ll hold my breath for the official time since I love the Panamera. Yes, I don’t care if you think it’s godawful ugly or not. It’s still a beast to be reckoned with! ^_^
