Last year, BMW->ke178 made the announcement that it would drop Formula 1, but that's not the only series the company is ditching. The company has also announced that starting next season the World Touring Car Championship will also be dropped. Instead the company will focus on their return to the DTM series in 2012.

However, BMW will continue to offer BMW 320 TC models to private teams and drivers, but they will be fitted with the new 1.6-liter four-cylinder (DI-) turbo engine. The "TC" in its terminology stands for "Touring Car". With this designation, the 320 TC will represent BMW in the WTCC in 2011 and its 1.6-liter unit will represent MINI in the FIA World Rally Championship->ke523 program which starts in 2011.

Altogether BMW has delivered over 60 BMW 320si WTCC racing kits to customer teams across the world. These BMW 320 TC models will make their debut at the DTM event in Munich's Olympic Stadium on July 16th-17th, 2011.
