Unveiled back at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is now rumored to entering production. According to sources at InsideLine, BMW will produce between 5,000 and 10,000 units of the 21st century plug in hybrid keeping the same diesel burning and electric poer train combination. According to the same sources at Edmunds, this might be the second true production super car after the Giugiaro M1, but "there will be less of the synthetic glass and more solid structure added to the final design." We expect the production version of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics 2+2 seater plug in hybrid to debut sometime in 2012. Powered by a three cylinder turbo diesel power plant combined with two electric motors for a maximum output of 356 HP and 590 lb-ft of peak torque. This ensures that the new 2+2 will consume 75.1 MPG and emit only 99 grams/km of CO2 while being able to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in just 4.8 seconds and reach a very green top speed of 155 MPH. .
9 comments: BMW Vision EfficientDynamics into production? I can’t imagine a super efficient car with a 356 HP under the hood, a great innovation from BMW, hopefully most car today can apply the same concept.
I’ve never seen a BMW as beautiful as this one. Some of them are almost the same looking but this one is marvelously unique.
If its a BMW and a supercar, there are no doubts that the tag price would be expensive. But like what Purezen said here, it’s just a rumor. Though, I do hope they would push for this beauty.
75 MPG for a super car is pretty impressive, but how much will it actually cost? I tried searching for articles but I have found no evidences that this will go into production just yet. Although I’m hoping that it does, I hope that the tag price doesn’t go very expensive.
@purezen - well rumor can become reality isn’t it? well of course BMW will surely put the vision into production, it has a lot of good feedbacks.
RUMORED is the only word that matters in this article. there is no way there are production plans for this car.
