Journalists from around the globe have been invited to Majorca Spin in order to get behind the wheel of the new baby Bimmer crossover, the X1. So now Top Speed finally has the chance to show you the "official spy shots;" even though you may have seen it somewhere else before.

When it goes on sale, the BMW X1 will be available with four-wheel drive; rear-wheel should come shortly after. The pictures show a 2.0 liter four cylinder model making 177 HP. This xDrive23d prototype is most definitely having some fun in the mud with its M Sport Package.

It will be interesting to see how the smallest BMW SUV will fare against luxury compacts like the mini G Wagon, Mercedes Benz GLK. It will also be interesting to see if the box car craze can carry over into a higher price range.
