A couple of weeks there was a nasty little rumor going around that Bugatti would soon be dropping their supercar variant in favor of a luxury sedan. While we were wrinkling our nose in distaste at such a horrible decision, another rumormill was spinning a different version of the news, and we like this one much better. How about we forget about the sedan for a minute and focus on a 270 mph Veyron? According to British magazine, AutoExpress, the Veyron SuperSport is not at all the best Bugatti can do and apparently Bugatti has no plans to break after the 300 Veyron units are sold. Instead, the company is going to bring in a new supercar that may take its inspiration from a 1999 design proposal for the original Veyron penned by Walter de’Silva, current head of Volkswagen Group design. This project was never put on display, but may be making a comeback in this next Veyron. One thing is for sure, the next model will feature blacked-out A-pillars, a ‘floating’ roof that curves around to form the side air intakes, and one-piece rear light assemblies. The future model will more than likely stick to the usual quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine and seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox, but the power coming out of these components will see some very big changes. With the tweaked engine setup, the future Veyron will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and will be capable of hitting a top speed of 270 mph. Sweet! Where do we sign up? .
14 comments: Bugatti prepares 270mph Veyron They’re really pushing the Veyron aren’t they? 270 mph seems to be a bit too crazy. But knowing the guys from Bugatti, they will likely do it anyway.
This perfected engine combined with reduced weight, and a series of other tweaks here and there are likely to enable this new Bugatti Veyron to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in less than 2.5 seconds and reach record breaking top speed of 270 mph.
This new Bugatti Veyron is most probably going to feature an optimized version of their current 8.0-litre W16 engine mated to an also optimized 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, with a power level of at least 1,200 HP and 1,500 Nm of torque.
ummmmm yeahh..... you obviously dont understand anything about this car. first of all, a person who owns this thing will never be seen at a drive thru nor will they be eating at mcdonald’s. they need a fast car able to fly if you put wings on it to go to japan to pick up some fresh kobe beef.
Why not take the 4-5 million they supposedly lose per car when they sell this pointless thing, and spread those losses over the awesome 25K sports car we’d like them to build?
with that speed could drive across town to McDonald’s, pick up your order and be back home before the end of the McDonald’s commercial. it doesn’t make sense to have this in my garage.
now this it more like it, alt east something meaningful is happened. working fo a company like bugatti is just like working on another organization or should i say government org.
As if I was going 350 and I was too slow... I need a 420km/h car! I won’t buy the Veyron if it;s that slow! lol
