Ever since Cadillac->ke18 unveiled the ATS, everyone expected to see the same treatment Caddy applied to the CTS->ke1200, meaning the addition of more body variations. It looks like what was once simple speculation has just become a sure thing.

In a recent interview at the Detroit Auto Show, Robert Ferguson confirmed that an ATS Coupe is indeed under construction. In fact, selected journalists already saw the first concept version back in 2009. He describes the ATS as a great car and some variations of it are a must.

What we will not see in the lineup is a station wagon and a convertible. How about an ATS-V? No comments here yet, so we still can hope. Ferguson also confirmed that the European market will get a diesel-powered ATS, so there will be an ATS for every taste in the upcoming years.

What we can safely assume about the ATS Coupe is that it will be offered with the same engine lineup as the sedan: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 200 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 270 horsepower, and a 3.6-liter V-6 with 318 horsepower.
