Chevrolet To Get Holden Based SS Sedan

Posted on by 12

Americans always says that Canadians are “just like us.” They talk (almost) the same, look slightly paler, and they just happen to use those funny little kilometers per hour instead of the proper miles per hour. After much thought though, it’s the Australians that are most like Americans– especially when it comes down to the shared passion of muscle cars.

The Holden Commodore last made its appearance on our shores in 2009 as the Pontiac G8 . It was a big, full-size, four door sedan, complete with an equally big Corvette-sourced V8 engine. What’s not to love about it?

Unfortunately for us, the G8 left our market with the demise of Pontiac in 2010 and we’ve been without our fair share of Australian cars since then. But alas some good news: according to GM Inside News, the Holden Commodore has been confirmed to return to the United States as a 2014 Chevrolet SS Sedan.

Even better news follows. GM Inside News also reports that General Motors is considering bringing the Holden Commodore Ute and Commodore SportWagon to our shores as well, as the Chevy El Camino and SportWagon. If these rumors hold any water, we’d expect to see the El Camino the same time we see the SS Sedan and the Sport Wagon released soon thereafter.

For the record, this isn’t the first time these rumors have popped up. Some of you may even remember that we were supposed to get the Commodore Ute back in 2009 as the Pontiac G8 Sport Truck before the economy tanked and it was cancelled. Also in July of the same year, Bob Lutz said that the G8 would be saved and become the Chevrolet Caprice. That also turned out to be untrue although the Commodore’s big brother, the Statesman went on to become the new Caprice PPV .

While there is hope for these awesome Aussies on our shores, we’ll have to wait to believe it when we see it.

hmm. So what so special about Holden? I don’t think that its a good idea for the Chevy to collaborate on this car brand!

Holden has ruined the natural beauty of the Chevy SS! I can’t believe that they have agreed to make this car into a wide body it actually makes the looks so hideous!I prefer the traditional figure of muscle car.

I don’t get why does the team creative behind this production is wasting their time and effort for this pointless car.

I don’t like the look of this car it looks like a bow without any shape but a boring square! I’m not going to buy a Holden brand!

Yeah, that would be a good move. But I think they should concentrate first on improving their current models to suit American models. That’s one of the problems they had with the Pontiac G8.

It would really be a good idea if, aside from bringing in Holden’s current models, they should also come up with newer models. That would certainly expand their line.

Well, they were having a bit of a problem with the Pontiac brand during those times, so they were not able to release new models. It is just this year that they have resolved those issues.

I can’t believe that they released their last production back in 2009. For me, its kind of disappointing that after several years they haven’t manage to come up with their own design.

Well, actually, you’re right, we did this already with the Pontiac G8. And he did mention that already in the article. Please read the whole damn thing before you comment.

It would be quite interesting to see the Ute hitting the US shores. I wonder how this one would fare against the many pick up models that are already here.

Um, didnt we do this already? It was called the G8 for pontiac. GM is showing their inventive side. Not.

Well, this is certainly going to be a big Australian invasion. But I think Chevrolet actually made a good move on this one, those Aussie models are rather good also.
