French automaker Citroen->ke22 is working on bringing two of its concepts to life, the Metropolis luxury sedan and the Survolt sports car.

The company’s recent attempts to break into the European luxury sedan market haven’t gone well, as the C6->ke1059 hasn’t sold like Citroen had hoped. The Metropolis is the next step for the company and it could be the new DS9.

“We cannot afford to let the likes of Audi, Mercedes and BMW forge into Citroën’s heartland supermini territory without fighting back and pushing into theirs,” PSA design boss Jean-Pierre Ploue said to Autocar.

He added that selling high-end luxury cars in Europe isn’t easy at the moment, but the new DS9 could do great things for Citroen.

The sports car Survolt has been seen on the roads before, as it was at the Le Mans Classic race giving a demonstration.

“It’s still our intention to put the Survolt into low-volume production, and we’re pursuing the idea of a one-make race series,” an Autocar source confirmed.
