Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2 gaming wheel is as real as it gets

  news

So you want realism on your GT5 (or Forza) racing experience? Let’s face it, controllers are alright, but they don’t really generate that same amount of unbridled realism that force-feedback steering wheels come in. That’s why we don’t hold anything back on our racing game accessories, especially when it comes to the steering wheel.

Fanatec’s new – and officially licensed – Porsche 911 GT2 racing wheel sells for $250, but actually feels like it costs more than that. On sheer aesthetics alone, the wheel has been dressed in the same Alcantara leather that’s found on the 911 GT2. With the controls, this officially licensed Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel has 14 hidden buttons, a 900-degree steering angle, and a USB cable that you can connect to the PS3 and the PC. Yeah, an Xbox-licensed accessory that works on the PS3. Pretty cool huh?

Here’s where it gets even more interesting: if you want a full-scale upgrade on the wheel, there’s a $250 added charge that will get you the Clubsport Edition that includes a stick shift, carbon fiber paddle shifters, and high-end adjustable aluminum pedals.

Just like the real thing.

Yeah, this simulator needs a high definition television. This is really so cool and trendy! Sadly, that I can’t afford it!

Oh yeah, this has been the trend in the racing simulator to make the player feel the real intense in the racing track. However , this comes in a higher price tag.

This one would be a good thing to try on.  Yes, im wanting for realism on my gaming experience. Gaming wheel would be the best options but this one comes into high price for sure and of course for total gaming experience you been needed to use and LCD TV for this. Oh no! i think i will using controller until i could have onesmiley

@harry_bright, If you appreciate good things, you will not called this thing as a crap. No one cares if you like to play this game with the traditional controller with your LCD or whatsoever. This is just an option for more gaming experience!

I agree with you Tom_Guts, It’s really a crap. Its much better to play the GT2 with the standard controller and a LCD TVsmiley

I think it makes no difference if you’ll be using a gaming wheel or not the feeling is just mutual if  The best deal would be,  if they could make a "virtual world", basically, being controlled by you’re mind just like in the animated show that i used to watchedsmiley

I have read that the major complaint for the Fanatec shifter is a crap! I get an trouble while switching wheels on GT5. I think I just wait for 911 Turbo S.

If this wheel truly works with either PS3 and 360 then the $500 is justified in that it replaces two wheels at once.

It has a thick 12 inch wheel rim wrapped in hand stitched Alcantara for optimal grip and comfort.

The only bad thing about this wheel is the dedicated xbox button... it totally ruins the look and for what purpose? It could have easily been a non biased key that could work as the xbox button, ps button and some kind of aux button for pc.
