Universal Studios has announced production of Fast and Furious 7 will continue with the late Paul Walker returning in CGI form, along with a rewritten scrip, in order to complete the movie. Universal is said to be respectfully retiring Walker’s character Brian O’Conner rather than killing him off.

Walker will return, thanks to the heavy use of CGI and voice effects, along with four body doubles providing the movements as a base.

Filming has recently resumed in Abu Dhabi, as evidenced by the video below, after being on break since Walker’s untimely death last November. Co-star Vin Diesel confirmed via Twitter the movie is scheduled for debut April 10, 2015, almost nine months after the original debut date of July 11, 2014. There’s no word yet on whether the Fast and Furious franchise will continue producing movies, though we suspect this will likely be the last.

The franchise has been a lucrative one for Universal, grossing nearly $2.4 billion worldwide since the first movie hit the silver screen in 2001.
