The 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB was unleashed earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show,->ke228 and while we already know all of the major details behind Ferrari’s->ke252 new entry-level successor to the 458 Italia,->ke3479 we’ve yet to actually hear it in action. Thankfully, that has now changed thanks to a car spotter posted outside of Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters.

For some reason, the 488 GTB is still wrapped in camouflage, but one thing Ferrari can’t hide in this video->ke278 was the supercar’s->ke177 exhaust note. Despite the lower displacement and the twin turbochargers, the all-new 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine still delivers a signature Ferrari note, and pairing this engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission leaves the car sounding like an F1->ke190 race car.->ke148 As good as these cars sound in everyday driving, we can’t wait to hear what the 488 GTB’s powerful engine (660 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque) will sound like in full song on the track.

In addition to getting to hear the twin-turbo V-8, the video also gives us our first glimpse of the open-top->ke144 version of the GTB, likely to be called the 488 GTS. Judging by this prototype, it would appear that the GTS will have a power-retractable roof where the two-piece top folds into the space between the passenger compartment and the mid-mounted engine.
